The 2007 NBA Draft
The 2007 NBA draft was held on June 28, 2007 at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City New York. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including International Players Freshman Greg Oden from Ohio State University was drafted first overall by the Portland Trail Blazers who won the Draft Lottery Other notable draftees included Kevin Durant (Texas) drafted second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics and Al Horford (Florida) drafted third overall by the Atlanta Hawks Of the 60 draftees, 14 were international players without U.S. college basketball experience (only counting those who actually did play abroad after being drafted), and several more had played only one year of U.S. college basketball (which made them “one-and-done” players).
This was also the first time that three players from one school were chosen within the top ten picks of an NBA draft Durant, as well as Acie Law IV and Corey Brewer from The University of Texas at Austin were selected within this draft. The Houston Rockets tie an all-time record with four draft picks in a single round (their second round), after their trade involving Bonzi Wells with the Portland Trail Blazers on Draft Day; they acquiredPetteri Koponen, Carl Landry and Aaron Brooks in return for Steve Francis and a future second round pick to Phoenix Suns .
The First Pick: Kevin Durant
The 2007 NBA Draft was held on June 28, 2007 at the Raymond James Theatre in Orlando, Florida. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. College Basketball players and other eligible players, including international players.
A total of 60 players were drafted. The Boston Celtics who had the Worst Record in the 200607 season, won the right to select first overall pick Kevin Durant With the second overall pick, the Portland Trail Blazers selected Texas Longhorns center Greg Oden who missed the entire 200708 NBA season due to a microfracture surgery on his right knee. Other notable selections include certain future stars such as Mike Conley Jr., Al Horford (the third pick), Joakim Noah (ninth pick), and Jeff Green (fifth pick). This draft has been deemed as one of the worst drafts in recent memory because none of these 60 drafted players have been voted into any All-Star Games and only Conley has played significant games in the NBA as of 2017. Durant would go on to win Rookie of The Year for his efforts.

##The 2007 NBA Draft was held on June 28, 2007 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. College Basketball players and other eligible players, including international players.
The Third Pick: Al Horford
The 2007 NBA Draft was held on June 28, 2007 at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City New York. It was broadcast on television in 115 countries. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. College Basketball Players and other eligible players, including international players.
The draft consisted of two rounds; the first contained 33 picks and the second round contained 30 picks. Forty-seven college and High School players and one international playerDeclan Ryan, from Australia were selected in the draft. Of the 2nd round picks 28 were international players, none from the United States while all 33 first-rounders were American college educated basketball players with Horford as the only high school player of them all being selected 3rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks This was also the first draft Pistons GM Joe Dumars presided over as team president. The Portland Trail Blazers forfeited their first-round pick due to disciplinary action involving their fans making obscene gestures during their Playoff Game against the San Antonio Spurs on May 16th; however trail blazer officials stated that they would gladly forfeit their rights if it resulted in leniency for their fans from NBA Commissioner David Stern who had proposed stricter penalties for fan misconduct that included not allowing any alcohol to be sold during games and increasing fines for anyone caught misbehaving from $5,000 to $25,000 USD or more along with banning season ticket holders involved from attending future games as well as potentially revoking Season tickets altogether for particularly unruly fans who might have engaged in such behavior as well as heftier penalties for assault or property destruction. After Stern’s ultimatum involving Trail Blazer fan’s conduct during post-season games which cost them their 1st round pick went unheeded and led to even further objectionable behavior by some of their fans during games 6 and 7 of their second-round playoff series against eventual Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors which also led to several complaints being filed against them with both state and local law enforcement resulting in 5 people being arrested on charges that included assault causing bodily injury, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana among other charges it was then that NBA commissioner David Stern finally had enough and fined the team a then record $250,000 USD while also voiding any insurance coverage the team might have had for damages caused by their unruly fans actions making them liable for all damages caused as a result which is why some believed that this contributed to why they opted not to sign free agent Zach Randolph to a contract extension offer he had been seeking from them during offseason contract negotiations resulting in him eventually signing a 4-year $66 million contract with division rivals Los Angeles Clippers instead whereupon he helped lead them back into relevance after years of being one of the worst teams not just in their division but in the entire league.
The Fourth Pick: Mike Conley Jr.
The 2007 NBA draft was held on June 28, 2007 at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City New York. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. As of 2019, it is widely considered to be one of the worst drafts in NBA history meanwhile, ESPN’s 100 Greatest draft picks ranks it as the third worst.
At the time of his selection, Conley was considered one of the best pure point guards available in the 2007 Draft Class He was known for his quickness and Court Vision The fans were very high on him, chanting “We want Conley!” when he was not selected earlier in the draft.
The Fifth Pick: Jeff Green
The 2007 NBA draft was held on June 28, 2007 at the Radisson Blu Doubletree Hotel in Secaucus, New Jersey. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players.

The 2007 NBA Draft was held on June 28, 2007 at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City New York. It was broadcast on television in 115 countries. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players.
Mediacom was the exclusive broadcaster of the draft in the United States In the UK, audio broadcasting rights were held by TalkSport who broadcast live for three hours during the event; live coverage started at 1am BST and ended at 4am BST. ESPNU aired a tape-delayed broadcast of the first two hours of the draft (from 7pm EDT to 9pm EDT), while ESPN2 aired an edited re-broadcast later that night (starting at 11:30pm EDT).
In Australia ESPN2 televised a live two-hour broadcast of the event starting at 11:00 pm EST on Foxtel’s Sports & Variety Pack channel 520which also included a live two-hour simulcast of sister network ESPN’s broadcast of Major League Baseball’s home run Derby from San Francisco’s AT&T Parkas well as a repeat showing later that night (from 2:00 am to 4:00 am).
It was also available online through NBA.com’s NBA Draft broadband package on both PC and Mac platforms for US$19.99 until midnight EST on August 31st following the event; fans wanting to watch or listen to only one particular team’s selections could do so for US$4.99 (with a maximum of four teams) per team until midnight local time following each individual team’s selections by subscribing to their respective League Pass packages through NBA League Pass Broadband had also been made available for purchase from August 24th up until midnight EST on August 31st following conclusion of the draft for US$49.99, giving users access to live streaming video and audio webcasts of all 30 team radio broadcasts during each respective team’s time on the clock as well as providing users with full archived footageincluding every pick made during each round and all various memorable moments throughout the entire draftavailable OnDemand through September 16th, 2007; however team options were unavailable until 24 hours following completion of each respective team’s final pick in said round due to blackout restrictions in accordance with local television rights holders in areas where an NBA game is being shown on television while their local team is making its selection(s) during any given round which would otherwise be blacked out from live League Pass coverage as well; these restrictions were also applicable towards users trying to view picks involving any given team that is playing an NBA game OnDemand at any point after midnight following completion of said game(s).
It was also possible to follow along with ESPN textcasts through momentarily refreshed webpages, which featured new information as it became available with quick summaries accompanying each pick currently being announced as every team went “on the clock”. Each press release pertaining to a particular pick made during every round was automatically archived and indexed accordingly by search engines such as Google News long after its original posting thereby making it possible for users who missed seeing or reading about any given pick when it originally happened several picks or rounds earlier an opportunity to catch up on everything they had missed once they finally returned back home or arrived at their office desks come Monday morning even though such detailed analysis about every single player selected outside of maybe those taken within lottery range are usually considered excessive and unnecessary since very few players outside lottery range ever make much impact whatsoever if any at all in regards towards actually making a significant difference for their new teams’ outcome over an entire 82 game season unlike those drafted much higher up usually tend too; this is especially true when taking into account how most second round picks never even end up playing one single regular season minute regardless how good they might look during Summer League play or preseason matchups against undrafted free agents or other second rounders let alone those who did not even declare early enough therefore rendering themselves ineligible for selection until next year’s draft instead thereby further decreasing their already very slim chances towards ever becoming anything more than just roster fodder taking up valuable spots that could’ve gone towards somebody else who actually stands an outside chance towards maybe someday becoming good enough where they might eventually warrant actual minutes over an 82 game season whereas most late first round picks and second rounders never do outside maybe providing some much needed tokenism lip service due largely in part because their drafting GMs/teams are often forced into adhering strictly towards drafting purely based off skin color/ethnicity first and foremost above everything else before talent/potential even becomes part of the equation if it ever does at all which is really more often than not sadly never really considered much if anything past just mere perfunctory window dressing checklisting nowadays rather than being actually taken seriously like it really should be in this day & age but alas this has been unfortunately par for course going back many decades now.) The Eighth Pick: Joakim Noah
The 2007 NBA Draft took place on June 28, 2007 at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City New York. It was broadcast on television in 115 countries. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players.
Asian-born players Yi Jianlian and Zhou Qi were the only first-round picks from outside the United States being selected by the Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets respectively. Of the 60 picks, 43 players were born in the United States and 17 were born in countries outside the U.S., including two second-rounders born in the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico and Virgin IslandsCarlos Arroyo and Jamal Sampson respectively; Arroyo was also a naturalized citizen of Puerto Rico while Sampson was a naturalized citizen of the United States but had grown up in St. Croix one of the US Virgin Islands until age 14 when he moved to Florida to attend high school and play basketball there (thus making him a “U.S.-territory” player like Arroyo). This draft ties with 2002 as having four foreign-born first-Round Selections unlike 2002 however it did not have any foreign-born lottery selections (i.e., top 14). Five players drafted in this draft have been selected for at least one All-Star Game Kevin Durant (seven), Al Horford (four), Jeff Green (one), Yi Jianlian (one) and Joakim Noah who was voted to start for the East in 2014 despite barely playing that season due to injury; Horford and Noah have both been All-Stars four times each, Green has been an All-Star once while Durant has been selected as an All-Star seven consecutive times beginning with his rookie season making him one of only two other active 7+ time All Stars along with Lebron James who was drafted in 2003the two were teammates on Team USA at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and won gold medals together; they would later become teammates on the Oklahoma City Thunder during Durant’s eighth season when James joined them via trade from Cleveland though James left again after that single season to return home to play for his hometown Cavaliers whom he helped lead to an NBA Championship that same year. Also, this draft set a record number of university freshmen being selected within its confines when David Noel #32 and Jason Smith #20 were chosen in round one by Charlotte Bobcats and Miami Heat respectivelyto date no other draft has had more than three freshmen chosen within its first round after high school this is also notable because three other players coming out of high school would be drafted before either Noel or Smith: Kevin Durant who went 2nd overall behind Greg Oden as well as Mike Conley Jr. 13th overall behind Al Thornton both by Portland Trail Blazers then later traded on draft night respectively as well as Corey Brewer seventh overall behind Yi Jianlian by Minnesota Timberwolves who later had their spot swapped with Milwaukee’s 10th pick Brandon Rush going 11th instead due largely to a trade involving Kevin Garnett between those two franchises taking place earlier that offseasonall told five Franchise Players ended up being traded on or right before draft night that offseason: Garnett going from Minnesota to Boston Celtics Kobe Bryant from Lakers to Cavaliers (on draft night), Ray Allen from Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder to Boston Celtics (earlier that offseason), Jason Kidd from Nets to Mavericks (earlier t
