Derek Kelly is another important player for the team. He plays shooting guard and is averaging 11 points per game Kelly is also a good three-point shooter, similar to Daugherty.

Head coach Kevin Slaven has been at the helm of the Mercyhurst men’s basketball team for five years. During that time, the team has gone from being a struggling Division III program to one of the Top Teams in the nation. Under Slaven’s leadership, the team has won two conference championships and made three trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Assistant coach Ryan consume came to Mercyhurst after a successful career as a player and Assistant Coach at Division I La Salle University Coach consume has helped Slaven build the Mercyhurst program into one of the best in Division III
The team’s other assistant coach is Seth Bergeron. Coach Bergeron is in his first year at Mercyhurst after spending four years as an assistant coach at Division II Edinboro University. Bergeron has been a big part of the team’s success, helping with scouting and game preparation.

The team’s schedule is very demanding, but they are up for the challenge. They have many away games, but they also have some home games They are a Top Team in the nation and their goal is to win the championship.

The team’s fans are some of the most passionate in all of college basketball They are known for their creative and sometimes outrageous signs, as well as their loud and enthusiastic cheers. The student section which is called “The Dog Pound,” is particularly notorious for its rowdy behavior.

The Lakers are a Division II Basketball Program that compete in the East Region of the NCAA tournament The team is currently coached by Jason Soares, who is in his first season as Head Coach The Lakers play their home games at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center on the campus of Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The Lakers have been to the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament eight times in their history, with their most recent appearance coming in 2019. The Lakers have an all-time record of 5-8 in the NCAA tournament

The team is led by senior guard Domenic Chambers, who is averaging 18.5 Points per game Chambers is a dynamic scorer who can get his points from anywhere on the court, and he will be joined by another talented group of players next season.
The Lakers also have one of the best coaches in the NAIA, Mark Marlowe. Marlowe has coached Mercyhurst to two straight NAIA National Tournament appearances, and he has done an excellent job of developing players throughout his tenure.
