2019-20 Gonzaga Basketball keys to success
This Gonzaga team will be one of the most talented in recent years They have size, athleticism, shooting, and defensive prowess. The big question mark for this team will be how they come together and gel as a unit. They will have to rely on upperclassmen like Filip Petrusev and Killian Tillie to provide leadership and guidance for the newcomers.
As always, the key for Gonzaga will be how they perform in March. They have been so close to breaking through and winning a National Championship but they have come up just short in recent years With the increase in talent on this year’s roster, expectations are sky high for the Bulldogs. If they can live up to those expectations, there is no reason why they can’t win it all this year.
2019-20 Gonzaga basketball x-factors
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are coming off yet another historic season in which they finished 32-1 and won the West Coast Conference regular season and tournament titles. They earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament for the second time in school history, but unfortunately their season came to an end in the Elite Eight with a loss to Baylor. Now, the Zags must reload for next season as they look to make another deep tournament run. Here are three x-factors for next season’s team:
1) The Health of Killian Tillie: One of the biggest question marks surrounding Gonzaga basketball heading into next season is the health of star big man Killian Tillie. Tillie missed 13 games last season due to injury and while he was healthy come tournament time, he was clearly not 100%. If Tillie can stay healthy next season, he will be a huge asset for the Bulldogs as they will need his size and shooting ability down low.
2) The Development of Filip Petrusev: Another big key for Gonzaga next season will be the development of sophomore center Filip Petrusev. Petrusev showed flashes of brilliance last season, but was often inconsistent. If he can take a step forward next season and become a more consistent presence in the post, it will go a long way towards helping Gonzaga make another deep tournament run.
3) The Play of Ryan Woolridge: One player who will need to step up for Gonzaga next season is junior point guard Ryan Woolridge. Woolridge showed some promise last season, but at times struggled with his decision-making and shot selection. If he can play more under control next season and knock down shots when he’s open, it will be a big boost for Gonzaga’s offense.

The biggest question mark for Gonzaga heading into the season is who will replace forward Killian Tillie? Tillie was a key player for Gonzaga last year and his absence will be felt. If Petrusev can make a smooth transition into a starting role, then Gonzaga will once again be a force to reckon with come March Madness
