The Tournament Format

The semifinals will be played on Saturday (March 7), with the Championship game set for Sunday (March 8).
The tournament format will be identical to that used in 2019, with all 12 teams qualifying for the event. The top four seeds will receive a double bye into the quarterfinal round. Seeds 5-8 will receive a first-round bye, with seeds 9-12 playing in the Opening Round on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In past years, the tournament champion has received an automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament However, due to recent changes in NCAA rules, that is no longer the case. The Atlantic 10 Conference champion will still receive an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
