American League Standings
The American League Standings as of June 1st are as follows:
1. The New York Yankees are in first place with a record of 37-17.
2. The Houston Astros are in second place with a record of 36-18.
3. The Boston Red Sox are in third place with a record of 34-20.
4. The Minnesota Twins are in fourth place with a record of 32-22.
National League Standings
The National League Standings as of May 5th are as follows:
1. Los Angeles Dodgers 26-16
2. Arizona Diamondbacks- 25-18
3. Colorado Rockies 24-19
4. San Francisco Giants 23-20
5. Chicago Cubs 22-21
AL East Standings
The American League East is one of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) six divisions. This division was created when MLB split into two leagues in 1900. The AL East currently consists of fourteen teams. Nine teams play in the United States (the Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox New York Yankees Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays) and five teams play in Canada (the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals and the Toronto Blue Jays).
In baseball, the AL East is considered to be one of the most competitive divisions. The Boston Red Sox have won the most World Series titles out of any team in the AL East, with eight. The New York Yankees have won seven World Series titles. The Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays have each won two World Series titles.
The AL East has had a team win the World Series title in nineteen different seasons. The Boston Red Sox have won the most AL East titles overall, with fifteen. The New York Yankees have won thirteen AL East titles. The Baltimore Orioles have won six AL East titles and the Toronto Blue Jays have won five AL East titles.
AL West Standings
The AL West standings are as follows:
1. Houston Astros – 101-61
2. Los Angeles Angels – 98-64
3. Oakland Athletics – 97-65
4. Seattle Mariners – 89-73
5. Texas Rangers – 78-84
NL East Standings
The National League East is one of the six divisions in Major League Baseball The NL East consists of teams from the Eastern United States The NL East is currently led by the Washington Nationals who are in first place. The other teams in the division include the Miami Marlins New York Mets Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves
NL West Standings
As of August 28th, the NL West standings are as follows:
Los Angeles Dodgers 91-36
Colorado Rockies 74-54
Arizona Diamondbacks- 71-57
San Francisco Giants 67-60
San Diego Padres 58-70
AL Wild Card Standings
The AL Wild Card Standings are as follows: the Tampa Bay Rays are in first place with a record of 90-71, the Oakland Athletics are in second place with a record of 89-72, the Cleveland Indians are in third place with a record of 88-73, and the Boston Red Sox are in fourth place with a record of 87-74.
NL Wild Card Standings
The National League Wild Card race is heating up as the season comes to a close. The top two teams in the standings will face off in a one-game playoff to decide who advances to the NL Division Series
As of September 28, the Chicago Cubs are in first place with a record of 92-62. The Milwaukee Brewers are in second place with a record of 90-64. The Brewers hold the tiebreaker over the Cubs, so they would win the one-game playoff if it were held today.
The New York Mets are in third place with a record of 86-68. The Mets are four games behind the Brewers and six games behind the Cubs. The Mets would need to win their remaining six games and have both the Brewers and Cubs lose all of their remaining games in order to force a tiebreaker game.
The Saint Louis Cardinals are in fourth place with a record of 83-71. The Cardinals are seven games behind the Brewers and nine games behind the Cubs. The Cardinals would need to win their remaining nine games and have both the Brewers and Cubs lose all of their remaining games in order to force a tiebreaker game.
AL Divisional Standings
The American League has been divided into East, West, and Central divisions since 1994. In Major League Baseball (MLB), the winner of each divisional playoff series (the division series) faces the winner of the other division series in the League Championship Series (the LCS). The LCS winner then progresses to the World Series MLB’s Championship Series
In an effort to create a more competitive balance throughout the league, MLB realignment shifted the Houston Astros from the National League Central to the American League West prior to the 2013 season. The most recent shift occurred prior to the 2020 season when the league added a 16th team, the Colorado Rockies moving them from the National League West to the American League West.
NL Divisional Standings
The National League is currently divided into two divisions: the East Division and the West Division. The top team in each division qualifies for the National League Championship Series
As of right now, the Chicago Cubs are in first place in the NL East with a record of 62-46. The Washington Nationals are in second place with a record of 60-48. The New York Mets are in third place with a record of 57-51.
In the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers are currently in first place with a record of 64-44. The Arizona Diamondbacks are in second place with a record of 63-45. The Colorado Rockies are in third place with a record of 58-50.
