But Head Coach Josh Daily is confident in his squad’s ability to compete with anyone in the nation. “We have a tough schedule, but we’re up for the challenge,” Daily said. “Our goal is to get back to the World Series and we think we have the team to do it.”

The Players
The Alfred State baseball team is looking to Bounce Back from a tough season in which they went 12-27. They will have their work cut out for them as they compete in one of the most difficult conferences in all of Division III the Empire 8. The Empire 8 is made up of some of the best baseball schools in New York State The Pioneers will be led by a core group of returners as well as some key newcomers.
The pitching staff will be anchored by ace, senior, right-handed pitcher, Andrew Morse. Morse was named a captain for the upcoming season and will look to build off a strong junior campaign in which he went 5-4 with a 3.86 ERA. Other key returners on the mound include junior righty, CoreyIST1ngsley who went 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA last season and sophomore lefty, Kyle Gallagher who recorded a 4.15 ERA in limited action last season.

Record at Alfred State: 42-21 (.667)
Notes: Letts is in his second season as the head coach of the Pioneers.In his first season, he led the team to a school record 42 wins and their first ever appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate conference championship game.
