Pearl: Kentucky Will Be Biggest Home Game Of The Year
It’s not often that an SEC game is considered a must-win for a team that is struggling as Auburn currently is, but that is exactly the case when Kentucky visits Auburn Arena on Saturday.
Auburn (11-9, 1-6 SEC) has dropped six straight games and is in danger of missing the NCAA tournament for the second straight season. A home win over Kentucky (16-4, 5-2 SEC) would be a big step in the right direction for Bruce Pearl’s team.
“This is absolutely the biggest game of the year for us, there’s no doubt about it,” Pearl said. “You couple that with it being senior night and you throw in that we haven’t beaten Kentucky here in a long time, it becomes an even bigger deal.”
Auburn has not beaten Kentucky at Auburn Arena since 1999, a streak of 17 straight games. The Wildcats have also won 31 of the last 32 meetings overall, including a 75-70 win at Rupp Arena on Jan. 14.
