The History of Baseball
baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of nine players each, who take turns batting and fielding. The game proceeds when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball which a player on the batting team tries to hit with a bat. The objectives of the offensive team (batting team) are to hit the ball into the field of play, and to run the bases—having its runners advance counterclockwise around four bases to score what are called “runs”. The objective of the defensive team (fielding team) is to prevent batters from becoming runners, and to prevent runners’ advance around the bases. A run is scored when a runner legally advances around the bases in order and touches home plate (the fourth base). The team that scores the most runs by the end of the game is the winner.

The Equipment Used in Baseball
One important aspect of baseball that is often overlooked is the equipment necessary to play the game Each player needs a glove, a bat, and a ball. These are the essentials, but there are other pieces of equipment that can be very helpful to have on hand.
Gloves: Gloves come in all shapes and sizes, but they all serve the same purpose: to help players catch the ball. It is important to find a glove that fits well so that it can be easily maneuverd.
Bats: Bats also come in different sizes and styles. The weight and material of the bat will affect how well the batter can hit the ball It is important to experiment with different bats until you find one that feels comfortable to swing.
Balls: Baseballs are made of leather and have a cork center. They are covered with 108 double stitches for extra durability. The balls are also used for batting practice so that they do not get too dirty for game play.
