The 2017-2018 Cal Poly Basketball Schedule is now available. The Mustangs will play a total of 30 games, 15 of which will be at home in Mott Athletic Center.

The Cal Poly Mustangs men’s Basketball team represents California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. The school’s team currently competes in the Big West Conference. They are led by Head Coach John Smith and play their home games at Mott Athletics Center.

Non-Conference Games

The Cal Poly men’s basketball team will play 28 non-conference games as part of its regular season schedule in 2019-20, head coach John Smith announced on Tuesday.

Cal Poly’s slate includes 15 home games at Mott Athletics Center – including a Nov. 8 exhibition contest against Redlands – and 13 road contests. The Mustangs will compete in the Armed Forces Classic on Nov. 8, playing at United States Air Force Academy’s Clune Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., against Bradley as part of ESPN’s 24-hour College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.

Conference Games

The conference games are the most important games of the year. They will determine whether or not the team makes it to the NCAA tournament The conference games are also a great way to show off your skills to potential recruits.

The Conference Schedule has not been released yet, but it is expected to be released in early September.

Home Games

Cal Poly Mustangs men’s Basketball team represents California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. The school’s team currently competes in the Big West Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. They are currently led by Head Coach John Smith and play their home games at Mott Athletics Center.

Cal Poly Men’s Basketball History

Cal Poly Men’s Basketball History

The Cal Poly men’s basketball team began competing in the 1901-02 season. The team has won six conference championships and made one appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. The Mustangs currently compete in the Big West Conference.

Head Coaches

The Head coach of the Cal Poly men’s basketball team is John Smith. Smith has been the head coach since the 2014-15 season. Prior to his time at Cal Poly, Smith was the head coach of Pepperdine University and Louisiana State University

NCAA Division I Tournament Results

The Cal Poly men’s basketball team has not made an appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament.

Cal Poly in the NCAA Tournament

The NCAA Tournament is a single-elimination tournament of 68 teams from across the country that compete in seven rounds for the National Championship

The first four rounds are held at eight different locations around the country, known as the “First and Second Rounds.” The locations for the First and Second Rounds of the 2018 NCAA tournament are:

First Four ( Dayton, Ohio) – March 13 and 14
First Round (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) – March 15 and 17
Second Round (Waco, Texas) – March 22 and 24
Sweet Sixteen (Atlanta, Georgia) – March 29 and 31
Elite Eight (Boston, Massachusetts) – April 5 and 7
Final Four (San Antonio Texas) – April 11 and 13

Cal Poly will play in the First Round of the NCAA tournament on March 15 at 4:00pm PT. Their opponent and game location will be announced on Selection Sunday, which is March 11.
