The 2019-2020 CCIW Basketball season is upon us and there is a lot of excitement surrounding the conference. The conference has been fairly evenly matched in recent years with no team having won more than two consecutive championships. This parity has made for some great basketball and should continue this season. Here is a look at how the teams stack up heading into the season.

CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 Season Recap
The 2019-2020 season for CCIW basketball was one for the ages. With new teams joining the conference and familiar faces in new places, there was plenty of shake-up in the standings. Here’s a look at how everything ended up:
1. Wheaton College (IL) – 20-2, 12-2 CCIW
2. Illinois Wesleyan University – 17-5, 11-3 CCIW
3. North Central College (IL) – 15-7, 9-5 CCIW
4. Carthage College (WI) – 12-10, 8-6 CCIW
5. Augustana College (IL) – 10-12, 6-8 CCIW
6. Elmhurst College (IL) – 7-15, 3-11 CCIW
7. Millikin University (IL) – 6-16, 2-12 CCIW
CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 All-Conference Team
The 2019-2020 All-Conference team for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) basketball season was announced today. The team is selected by a vote of the conference’s head coaches
This year’s team includes four first-time selections and two repeat members from last year. Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors were awarded to North Central College’s Jordan Johnson and Elmhurst College’s David Nolen, respectively.

CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 Player of the Year
The 2019-2020 season of CCIW Basketball was one full of excitement and surprises. The conference’s Player of the Year was awarded to Luke Gasper of North Central College. Gasper, a 6’7″ Power Forward led the conference in scoring (19.5 ppg) and rebounding (9.2 rpg) while also shooting an impressive 53.5% from the field. In addition to his on-court success, Gasper was also named to the CCIW All-Academic team, making him a well-rounded student-athlete.
CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 Coach of the Year
The North Central College Coaching Staff has been selected as the 2019-2020 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff of the Year. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday, March 2.
This marks the fourth time that a North Central men’s basketball coach has been selected for this honor and the first time since the 2011-2012 season. Coach Matt Johnson is in his first season as Head Coach of the Cardinals.
“We are honored to be recognized by our peers in the CCIW,” said Johnson. “It is a testament to the hard work of our players and staff throughout the season. We are looking forward to representing the conference in the NCAA tournament ”
The Cardinals have compiled a 23-4 overall record and finished tied for first place in the CCIW standings with a 14-2 mark. North Central will be making its 24th appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship and will face Cornell College (Iowa) in a first-round game on Friday, March 6, at Ripon College.
CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 Tournament Preview
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) is a NCAA Division III Athletic Conference The conference sponsors 19 sports, including men’s and women’s basketball. The CCIW Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held from February 26th to March 1st, 2020 at the campus sites of the highest remaining seeds. The tournament winner will receive an automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament
As of February 23rd, 2020, the current CCIW standings are as follows:
1. North Central College – 13-3 CCIW, 21-5 overall
2. Wheaton College – 12-4 CCIW, 20-6 overall
3. Elmhurst College – 11-5 CCIW, 17-9 overall
4. Illinois Wesleyan University – 10-6 CCIW, 16-10 overall
5. Augustana College – 9-7 CCIW, 13-13 overall
6. Carthage College – 8-8 CCIW, 12-14 overall
7.Millikin University – 7-9 CCIW, 10-16 overall
8. North Park University – 5-11 CCIW, 10-16 overall
CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 Tournament Recap
Curry College is a Division III college located in Milton, Massachusetts. The school’s athletic teams compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The 2019-2020 season was the first time in Curry College history that the school’s basketball team made it to the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament
The team finished the regular season with a record of 29-1, winning both the CCC regular season Championship and the CCC Tournament Championship The team’s only loss of the season came against Tufts University in the semifinal round of the prestigious New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tournament.
In the NCAA Tournament Curry College defeated Roger Williams University in the first round before losing to eventual National Champion Amherst College in the second round.
Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, it was a historic season for Curry college basketball and one that will be remembered for many years to come.
CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 Season in Review

CCIW Basketball: 2019-2020 All-CCIW Team
The All-CCIW Basketball team for the 2019-2020 season has been announced. This year’s team is made up of student-athletes from six of the eight CCIW schools, and is headlined by Illinois Wesleyan University’s Gabby Diodati (Sr., F, Rockford, Ill.), who was named the CCIW Player of the Year.
Joining Diodati on the All-CCIW team are a pair of first team all-conference selections in Wheaton College’s Lauren Bisard (Sr., G, Lake Zurich, Ill.) and Carthage College’s Tia Purdie (Jr., G/F, Milwaukee, Wis.). Also earning all-conference honors are IWU’s Kennedy Dziuba (Sr., C, Lemont, Ill.), North Central College’s Bailey Stuffelbeam (So., F, Sandwich, Ill.), and Augustana University’s Lexi Wallenberger (Jr., G/F, Norridge, Ill.).
