D’Youville College Men’s Basketball Schedule

The D’Youville College men’s basketball team will tip off their 2019-20 season on Tuesday, November 5th at Hilbert College. The Spartans will look to build on last year’s success, when they finished with a record of 18-8 and made it to the semifinals of the conference tournament

The schedule features several tough opponents, including conference foes Niagara University Canisius College and St. Bonaventure University. The Spartans will also take on non-conference opponents such as Fredonia State University Rochester Institute of Technology and La Salle University

The team is led by senior captain Nick Trivisonno (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Catholic HS), who averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game last season. Other key returnees include junior guard Josh Reisman (Buffalo, NY/City Honors School), who averaged 12.3 points per game and junior forward Nate Rocke (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster HS), who averaged 11.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game

D’Youville College Women’s Basketball Schedule

The D’Youville College women’s Basketball team will start their season on the road against Hilbert College on Friday, November 8th at 6pm. The team’s first Home game will be on Saturday, November 9th at 1pm against Medaille College.

The Spartans will have four games in November, all of which will be conference matchups. In December, D’Youville will have three home games and four away games. The month starts with a conference game on the road against Alfred State on Friday, December 6th at 6pm re Playing host to York College on Sunday, December 8th at 1pm.

D’Youville will finish 2019 with a home game against Hilbert on Tuesday, December 31st at 6pm and then start 2020 with a three-game road trip The trip starts with a conference game at Penn State Behrend on Saturday, January 4th before squaring off against Keuka College the following day. The final game of the trip and first of 2020 will be against Alfred State on Monday, January 6th.

The D’Youville College women’s Basketball team announced their roster for the upcoming season The team looks to improve on their previous season’s results with a strong group of returners and some talented newcomers.

The team will be led by returning seniors Kaitlyn Lewis and Emily Anderson. Lewis, a guard, was the team’s leading scorer last season averaging 15 points per game Anderson, a forward, was the team’s second leading scorer and rebounder averaging 12 points and 8 rebounds per game.

The team will also have several other returners who will contribute including junior guard Jenna Wilson, sophomore guard Mackenzie Trate, and sophomore forward Hailey Witkowski. Newcomers to the team include freshmen guards Madison Butler and Abby Kaiser, and freshman forward Kari Liederbach.

D’Youville College Men’s Basketball News

D’Youville College men’s basketball will have a new look this season as the Spartans seek to return to the conference tournament for the first time since the 2016-17 campaign.

Second-year Head Coach John Perovich will have a young and inexperienced squad, as the Spartans lost six seniors from last year’s team that finished with an 8-16 overall record and fourth place in the Conference Standings

The Spartans will be led by junior guard Jake Socha, who is the only returning starter from last season. Socha averaged 10.5 points, four rebounds and two assists per game last year and will be looked upon to provide leadership for a young D’Youville team.

Sophomore forward Dan Dlugosz and junior guard Matt Stone will also play key roles for the Spartans this season. Dlugosz is a physical presence in the post who averaged 5.5 points and four rebounds per game last year, while Stone is a versatile player who can shoot from long range and averaged 3.5 points per contest last season.

Rounding out the roster are sophomore guard/forward Andrew Mason, sophomore guard Kyle Rosecrans, freshman guard Ryan Miles and freshman forward Ben Sherwood.

D’Youville College Men’s basketball player Profiles

d’Youville Men’s Basketball will look to defend their conference title this season with a strong returning core of players. Read below for player profiles of the team’s returners and newcomers.

Guards

#3 – John Doe
John is a 5th year senior who has been a starting guard for the last 4 years. He is a strong shooter and excellent defender.

#5 – Jane Smith
Jane is a 5th year senior who has been a starting guard for the last 4 years. She is a strong shooter and excellent defender.

#12 – Tim Robinson
Tim is a 4th year junior who has seen limited action in his first 3 years with the team. He is a good shooter and has shown improvement on his defense in practice.

Forwards/Centers

#15 – Sarah Johnson
Sarah is a 4th year junior who has been a key contributor off the bench in her first 3 years with the team. She is a versatile player who can play both inside and out.

D’Youville College is pleased to announce its women’s Basketball Roster for the upcoming season Featuring a mix of veteran and newcomer talent, the team looks to build on last year’s success and compete for a conference championship.

Leading the way for the Spartans will be senior captain Katie Coleman, who was named first team all-conference last season. Coleman averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds per game last year, and she will look to continue her dominance in the post this season. Along with Coleman, the Spartans will also have seniors Abby Gannon and Jill Johnson, who bring a wealth of experience to the team.

The junior class will be highlighted by guard Emily Brown, who averaged 12 points per game last season. Brown is an excellent shooter from long range and will be counted on to provide a scoring punch for the Spartans. Rounding out the junior class are forwards Ally Thomas and Sarah Bartlett, who provide valuable depth in the frontcourt.

The Sophomore class features guard Sammy Jo Rizzo, who made a big impact as a freshman last season. Rizzo averaged 10 points per game and was named conference Rookie of the Year. The Spartans will also have sophomores Emily Pascarella and Hailey Wilcox, who saw significant minutes as freshmen last year and will look to take on larger roles this season.

The Spartans will have four freshmen on this year’s team: guards Kennedy Warner and Mackenzie Hart, forward Cassidy O’Rourke, and center Olivia Kurtz. All four players are expected to make an immediate impact and contribute to the team’s success this season.
