Fantasy basketball keeper rankings are always a hot topic this time of year. Whether you have the first overall pick or you’re picking in the later rounds, it’s important to know which players will have the most value going forward.

There are a lot of factors to consider when ranking keepers, such as age, health, skill set, contract status and role on their team. With that said, here are my top 10 fantasy basketball keeper rankings for the 2019-20 season

What are keeper rankings?

Keeper rankings are based on a player’s value in a fantasy Basketball League in which teams are allowed to keep a certain Number of players from year to year. These rankings take into account a player’s past performance, as well as their projected performance for the upcoming season

The top 10 players

There are a lot of Great players in the NBA, but when it comes to Fantasy basketball there are only a handful of guys that you want on your team year in and year out. These are the top 10 players in Fantasy Basketball keeper rankings.

1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Anthony Davis
4. James Harden
5. Russell Westbrook
6. Karl-Anthony Towns
7. Stephen Curry
8. Giannis Antetokounmpo
9. Kristaps Porzingis
10. Jimmy Butler

Why these players?

There are many factors that go into keeper rankings, but the most important thing to remember is that these rankings are based on who will provide the most value over the next few years. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the top 10 players.

1. Anthony Davis F/C, Los Angeles Lakers – You could argue that Davis is the best player in Fantasy Basketball right now, and you wouldn’t be wrong. He’s an elite scorer, rebounder, and shot-blocker, and he’s still just 26 years old. There’s no reason to believe he won’t be a top-3 player for years to come.

2. Giannis Antetokounmpo F, Milwaukee Bucks – Giannis is one of the most unique players in the NBA, and his fantasy production reflects that. He stuffs the Stat Sheet like few others can, and he’s still just 24 years old. He’s only getting better, which is scary for the rest of the league (and for fantasy owners).

3. James Harden G, Houston Rockets – Harden is one of the best scorers in NBA history and he shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. He’s also an elite playmaker and a very good three-point shooter. Oh, and he’s just 29 years old. He should be a top-5 player for at least the next few years.

4. Karl-Anthony Towns C, Minnesota Timberwolves – Towns is another young player who is already among the best in the game. He can score inside and out, he rebounds well, and he blocks shots at a high rate. He may not be quite as good as Davis or Giannis yet, but he’s not far behind.

5) Damian Lillard

What if you don’t have a top 10 player?

There are a lot of ways to win in fantasy basketball but one of the surest is to have a Top 10 player. These are the guys who will give you elite production in multiple categories and carry your team week in and week out.

But what if you don’t have a Top 10 player? Is your season doomed from the start?

Not necessarily. While it’s always nice to have a stud on your roster, there are plenty of players outside the Top 10 who can still provide solid production and help you win games.

So with that in mind, here are some players who may not crack the Top 10 overall but could still be valuable pieces on your fantasy team

Isaiah Thomas, PG, Boston Celtics Thomas is coming off a career year in which he averaged 22.2 points and 6.2 assists per game He’s not going to give you much in terms of rebounding or defense, but he will score and dish out assists at a high level. He’s also been relatively durable, missing just six games over the last two seasons.

Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets Jokic is one of the best young big men in the league, averaging 16.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game last season. He’s an excellent shooter (54 percent from the field), and he does a little bit of everything on the court. The only downside is that he doesn’t block many shots (0.9 per game last season), but he more than makes up for it with his all-around production.

Kristaps Porzingis, PF/C, New York Knicks Porzingis was arguably the best player on the Knicks last season, averaging 18.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2 blocks per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range He’s still just 22 years old and has plenty of room to grow as a player. He doesn’t provide much in terms of assists or steals (1.2 per game last season), but he’s a solid all-around player who should only get better as he enters his prime years
