In order to make it to the College World Series a team must first win their Conference Championship The top 8 teams in the nation are then selected to compete in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament The College World Series is a double-elimination tournament, meaning that a team must lose two games before they are eliminated from contention.
The first step on FDU’s road to the College World Series is winning their conference championship. FDU is a member of the East Conference which they have won 3 times in their history. The most recent NEC title came in 2016.
The next step is to be one of the top 8 teams selected for the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament The selection process takes into account a team’s regular season record, their Strength of Schedule and their performance in conference tournaments. Once again, FDU’s 2016 season was key in their 2017 success. With an overall record of 39-19 and a conference record of 15-3, FDU earned the 8th seed in the 2017 NCAA tournament

How FDU baseball built a College World Series team
In order to understand how FDU baseball built a College World Series team, one must first understand the recruiting process college baseball coaches are always looking for high-level talent to come play for their program. They use a variety of methods to find these players, such as attending showcases and tournaments, sending letters and emails, and making phone calls.
Once the Coaching Staff has identified potential recruits, they will reach out and offer them a spot on the team. The recruit then has the choice to accept or decline the offer. If they accept, they will sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and become part of the team.
The next step in the process is for the coach to start putting together a roster of players who he thinks can help the team win games. He will take into account each player’s skill set, position on the field, and experience levels. He will also consider how each player will fit into the team’s overall strategy.
Once the coach has finalized his roster, he will then start working on game plans and practice schedules. The goal is to have everything ready so that when the season starts the team is prepared to go out and compete at a high level.
