The Fitchburg State men’s Basketball Team represents Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The school’s team currently competes in the NCAA Division III
The Falcons are currently led by head coach Sam VanGundy, who took over the program prior to the 2016-17 season In his four seasons at the helm, Coach VanGundy has amassed a 62-40 (.606) overall record, including a mark of 43-23 (.652) in conference play Under his leadership, the Falcons have qualified for postseason play in three of his four seasons, including a trip to the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2019.
The 2019-20 Fitchburg State men’s Basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 21-7 and a conference record of 15-3, good for second place in the MASCAC standings. The team earned a berth in the 2020 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament where they fell to Williams College in the first round.

-Earl Watson: Drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 2001 NBA draft Watson played for five different NBA teams during his 14-year career. He is currently an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors
-Andre Miller: After going undrafted in the 1999 NBA Draft Miller carved out a 17-year career in the league, playing for eight different teams. He is currently seventh all-time in assists and 18th all-time in scoring.
-Jake Voskuhl: A journeyman center who played for eight different teams during his 12-year NBA Career Voskuhl won an NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2010.

Fitchburg State Men’s basketball team is a member of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Division III The team is currently coached by Joe Reilly, who is in his first season as Head Coach of the Falcons. The team plays its home games at the John W. built in 1961 and has a capacity of 1,200 people.
The Fitchburg State Men’s Basketball Team has seen success in recent years winning the MASCAC championship in 2015 and 2016. The team has also qualified for the NCAA Tournament five times in school history, with their most recent appearance coming in 2016.
