The Gannon University men’s basketball team will return to action this weekend when it competes in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Crossover Tournament.
The 12th-seeded Golden Knights will open nt play against fifth-seeded California University Of Pennsylvania on Friday at 2:30 p.m. athost school Mercyhurst’s Erie Insurance Arena.
Gannon, which is 10-19 overall and 4-16 in the PSAC, is coming off an 80-62 road loss to Edinboro on Saturday.

The Gannon University men’s Basketball team represents Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Golden Knights compete in the NCAA Division II and are members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference The team plays its home games at the Hammermill Center.

The Gannon University basketball team is currently in third place in their conference. They have a record of 12-4 overall and 8-2 in conference play Their next game is against conference rival Mercyhurst on February 8th.

Gannon University men’s Basketball team will start its home schedule on Nov. 9 against West Chester The Golden Knights are looking to build on last season’s 16-15 overall record and 12-6 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
West Chester went 13-17 last season and 8-10 in the PSAC.
The home opener will be the first of six games Gannon will play in November. The Golden Knights will play 11 games at the Hammermill Center this season.
Gannon will also host Mercyhurst on Nov. 11, before hitting the road for three straight games. The Golden Knights will travel to take on Pitt-Johnstown on Nov. 16, Edinboro on Nov. 18 and Clarion on Nov. 23. All three of those opponents were ranked in the PSAC preseason poll released Oct. 25, with Pitt-Johnstown coming in at No. 4, Clarion at No. 7 and Edinboro at No 11

-Junior guard Khaleem Bennett is averaging 18.3 points per game 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game He is shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range
-Sophomore guard Malik Eason is averaging 16.0 points per game 2.8 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game He is shooting 53.1 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range.
-Senior forward Jamil Perkins is averaging 11.8 points per game 4.5 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game He is shooting 54 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range
Game highlights
The Gannon University men’s basketball team will have plenty of home games to start the new season.
The Golden Knights will open the 2018-19 campaign with an exhibition game against Lakeland on Friday, Nov. 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hammes Athletic Center.
Gannon’s first regular-season Home game will be against Mercyhurst on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:00 p.m. Other home games include Edinboro (Nov. 14), Seton Hill (Nov. 17), Davis & Elkins (Dec. 1), West Liberty (Dec. 8), Notre Dame (Dec. 29) and Fairmont State (Jan. 19).

The Gannon University men’s and women’s basketball teams will be interviewed by the Student-Athlete Academic Excellence Committee on Tuesday, September 19th at 5:00 p.m. in the Yehl Ballroom.
The Student-Athlete Academic Excellence Committee is made up of GPSA senators, one graduate assistant from each sport, the SAAC president and the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Alumni updates
The Gannon University men’s basketball team will have several special events during the 2019-20 season including alumni games and a reception to honor the 1968 NCAA Division II National Championship squad.
The alumni game will take place on Dec. 28 at the Hammermill Center. The 1968 championship team will be honored at a Feb. 8 reception during the game against Mercyhurst.
Other special events include “Pack the House” night on Jan. 31 against Edinboro and “Military Appreciation Night” on Feb. 29 against Seton Hill
Fanzone
On February 8th, the Gannon University Men’s basketball team will be playing their annual “Fanzone” game. The game will be held at the Hammermill Center on Gannon’s campus, and tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
This game is always a big event for Gannon fans, as it is an opportunity for them to show their support for the team and get involved with the program. There will be plenty of opportunities for fans to get involved in the game, as there will be interactive games and prizes given out throughout the evening.
