The Coaches

The Gopher women’s Hockey Team is coached by Brad Frost and assisted by Jen Wercher. They have a combined total of 28 years of experience coaching women’s hockey. In those 28 years, they have led their teams to 15 NCAA tournaments and six Frozen Fours.

The Fans

The Gopher Women’s Hockey Team is one of the most celebrated programs in all of NCAA Division I athletics. Their fans are passionate and vocal, and they love to wear their team colors of maroon and gold. The Venue

The University of Minnesota’s women’s Hockey team is set to take on the University of Wisconsin in a much-anticipated match today. The game will be held at the Ridder Arena, located on the university’s Minneapolis campus. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, and the game will start at 7:00 PM.

The Game Plan

Gopher Women’s Hockey is back in action today as they take on Big Ten rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes The game is set to start at 3 p.m. EST and will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.

Looking to keep their Winning Streak alive, the Gophers come into the game with a record of 19-5-1 (9-4-1-0 B1G). Ranked No. 4 in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com polls, Minnesota is currently on a four-game winning streak with their last loss coming against then-No. 1 Wisconsin on Jan. 17. Since then, the Gophers have taken down Michigan State Penn State and No. 6 Clarkson, most recently shutting out the Golden Knights 3-0 on Saturday night.

In their first meeting of the season back on Nov. 16, Minnesota bested Ohio State 5-3 in Columbus thanks to a two-goal performance by senior captain Sarah Potomak and goals from Amy Potomak, Alex Woken and Grace Zumwinkle. The Buckeyes come into today’s game looking to exact some revenge, as they currently sit at 15-10 (8-7 B1G) with a record that includes recent wins over Lindenwood and No. 3 Wisconsin.

This will be the 74th meeting between these two schools in women’s hockey history dating back to 1999, when Ohio State joined the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). So far this season, Minnesota is undefeated at home with a record of 12-0 (6-0 B1G), while Ohio State has only been able to pick up three road wins (3-7).

After today’s game, both teams will be back in action this weekend as they continue conference play against each other once again; Friday’s game will be played in Columbus at 6 p.m., while Saturday’s contest will take place in Minneapolis at 3 p.m EST and will also be televised live on BTNPlus
