Grant Hill is a retired American basketball player who is considered one of the best players of his generation. He is a seven-time NBA All-Star and was named co-Rookie of the Year in 1994. He also won an Olympic gold medal as part of the United States men’s basketball team at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Early Life and High School

Hill was born in Dallas, Texas, to Calvin Sr. and Janet Hill. He attended South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia. Hill played on the school’s Basketball team alongside future NBA player Chris Webber the duo led their team to a 68–1 record over two years and were considered one of the best high school duos in history.

College Career

Grant Hill played three seasons of college basketball at Duke University from 1991 to 1994. As a freshman, he was a member of the Duke team that won the National Championship in 1992. He was named a consensus first-team All-American in his sophomore and junior seasons, and was a member of the United States men’s national basketball team that won the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics

In 1994, Hill left Duke after his junior year to enter the NBA draft where he was selected third overall by the Detroit Pistons He continued to play basketball at a high level in the NBA for several years, but his career was ultimately cut short by injuries.

NBA Career

Grant Hill played in the NBA for 19 seasons, from 1994 to 2013. He was a 7-time All-Star, and was named co-Rookie of the Year in 1995. He was part of the Orlando Magic team that made it to the NBA Finals in 1995, and also played for the Detroit Pistons Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 16.7 points per game during his career, and his highest scoring season was 1996-1997, when he averaged 21.4 points per game for the Pistons.

Post-NBA Career

After retiring from the NBA in 2013, Hill became a special advisor for the Toronto Raptors In December 2016, he was hired by Turner Sports to serve as a studio analyst for NBA TV and TNT’s coverage of the NBA.

During his prime, Grant Hill was considered one of the best all-around players in the game. He was a versatile player who could impact the game on both ends of the court. On offense, he was an efficient scorer and playmaker. On defense, he had the ability to guard multiple positions.

Grant Hill’s career was unfortunately derailed by injuries. He missed significant time due to various injuries, including ankle injuries that caused him to miss games in each of his last six seasons.
