It’s that time of year again — the crack of the bat, the smell of hot dogs and the sound of fans cheering. That’s right, baseball season is here! And with a new season comes a new schedule of exciting games to look forward to. Here are just a few of the must-see match-ups on tap for this year.

The Boston Red Sox

They are one of two Major League clubs based in New York City the other is the National League’s (NL) New York Mets The Yankees began play in the AL as the Baltimore Orioles (no relation to the modern Baltimore Orioles team), one of eight charter franchises that formed the league. In 1913, the team moved from Baltimore to New York City taking on their current name.

The Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are a professional baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the National League Central Division in Major League Baseball The Cubs are one of two Major League teams in Chicago; the other, the Chicago White Sox is a member of the American League Central Division. The Cubs have played in four World Series championships and won two, appearing in the 1907 and 1908 Fall Classics and winning games played in 1916 and 1918.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a professional baseball team in the National League West Division. The team was founded in 1884, and they have won the World Series a record-breaking seven times. The Dodgers are one of the most successful teams in baseball history and their games are always exciting to watch. Here are some of the Dodgers’ games to look forward to this season:

-April 1st: The Dodgers open their season at home against the San Francisco Giants This is always a highly-anticipated matchup, and it’s sure to be a great game

The San Francisco Giants

With a new season comes a new San Francisco Giants team, and fans are looking forward to see what this year’s squad will bring to the table. The team’s spring training facility is at Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Arizona. Since 1994, the Indians have played in the Central Division of MLB. Previously, the club belonged to the West Division from 1969–93.

The Houston Astros

The 2017 World Series Champions are gearing up for another exciting season of baseball. Although they lost some Key Players to Free agency they have made some important additions to the team that should help them compete for another championship.

Here are some games to look forward to this season:

-The Astros will open the season at home against the Texas Rangers on April 1st. This will be a great matchup between two of the best teams in the American League

-On April 21st, the Astros will host the New York Yankees for a three-game series. This will be a great opportunity for the Astros to get revenge against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.

-From May 29th-June 1st, the Astros will travel to Boston to take on the Red Sox This will be a tough series against a very good Red Sox team, but it will also be a great test for the Astros.

-On July 2nd, the Astros will host the San Francisco Giants for a four-game series. The Giants are always a tough opponent, and this will be a great chance for the Astros to measure themselves against one of the best teams in baseball.

The Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals are a professional Baseball team based in Washington, D.C. The Nationals compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) East division. From 2005 to 2007, the team played in RFK Stadium; since 2008 their home stadium has been Nationals Park located on South Capitol Street in Southeast D.C., near the Anacostia River.

The Nationals are the eighth Major League Baseball franchise to be based in Washington, D.C., and the first since 1971. The current franchise was founded in 1969 as the Montreal Expos part of the MLB expansion. The Expos were purchased by major league baseball before relocating to Washington, D.C., for the 2005 season after 36 years in Montreal, Quebec. While the team originally struggled after moving to Washington, winning only two divisions titles and three playoff berths from 2005 to 2016, they qualified for postseason play in four consecutive seasons from 2012 to 2015 behind star players such as Bryce Harper and Max Scherzer

The Cleveland Indians are looking to hold off the Minnesota Twins and win the AL Central crown. They will have their hands full when they host the Seattle Mariners on September 27th-29th. The Mariners are led by one of baseball’s brightest young stars second baseman Robinson Cano
