The Louisiana Tech University women’s basketball team also known as the Lady Techsters, is headed to the NCAA tournament! The team has a long history of success, including making it to the Final Four in 1982. This year, they’ll be looking to make a deep run in the tournament and bring home a championship.

The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters Basketball team is headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time in a decade, and they’re looking to make some noise. – Katie Lou Samuelson Katie Lou is a freshman guard who hails from Middletown, Connecticut. She is one of the country’s most talented young players and her shooting ability is second to none.

The Lady Techsters are led by senior point guard Jasmine Thomas, who is averaging 12.5 points and 4.5 assists per game Thomas is the Heart and Soul of this team, and she will need to be at her best if the Techsters want to make a deep run in the tournament.
Junior forward Theresa Plaisance is the leading scorer for the Techsters, averaging 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game Plaisance has the ability to take over a game offensively, and she will need to beassertive in order for the Techsters to have success.
Sophomore guards Alex Harden and Keke Veal are also key contributors for the Techsters. Harden is averaging 9.5 points per game while Veal is averaging 8 points and 4 rebounds per game Both players are capable scorers and they will need to step up their play in the tournament.

The Lady Techsters’ legacy
Since their formation in 1974, the Lady Techsters have cemented themselves as a Basketball powerhouse With over 1,400 wins and counting, they hold the record for the most wins of any women’s college basketball team in history. They’ve made 31 appearances in the NCAA tournament and their 18 Sweet Sixteen appearances are tied for the fourth most of any team in NCAA history.
The Lady Techsters have produced a number of iconic players and coaches including Hall of Fame coach Leon Barmore and NBA legend Teresa Weatherspoon. Under Barmore’s leadership, the Lady Techsters won eight conference championships and made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances including seven Sweet Sixteens and four Elite Eights. In 1988, he was named National Coach of the Year by both the Associated Press and United Press International.
In 1998, Weatherspoon was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame after a legendary career with the Lady Techsters. She is one of only two Louisiana Tech players to have her jersey retired by the school.
