Get to know the 2017-2018 Radford Men’s Basketball team! Coach Jones has put together a talented roster of players that are ready to take the Big South by storm.
Radford basketball roster Meet the Team
The Radford University men’s basketball team has a new look for the 2020-21 season, with eight newcomers joining the program.
Head Coach Mike Jones enters his 13th season at the helm of the Highlanders and will have a young, but experienced squad. Among the returnees are junior NABC All-District 6 honorable mention selection Carlik Jones who averaged 17.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game last season, and senior Editing Cena Dency, who averaged 10.4 points and a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per contest.
In addition to the returnees, Radford will have eight newcomers on the roster this season, including five true freshmen and three transfers. The freshman class is made up of guards Jaemyn Brakefield (Durham, N.C./Trinity Academy), Jalen Gibbs-Lawhorn (New Castle, Del./St. Georges), Kamari Lands (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll), Keyshaun Langley (Raleigh, N.C./Word of God) and Ikechukwu Uchendu (Lanham, Md./Riverdale Baptist).
The three transfers include redshirt junior forward Ahmad Abdur-Rahkman (Michigan/East Ridge), redshirt senior guard D’Maurian Williams (Texas Tech/Hutchinson CC) and redshirt sophomore guard Melvin Johnson III (VCU/South Florida).

Get to Know the Ford Basketball Roster
The Radford Basketball team is made up of 11 student athletes who are committed to representing the school and its values on and off the court. Check out the list below to learn more about each player on the team.
Javonte Green: Green is a 6’4” small forward from Bethel, Virginia. He was named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year after averaging 13.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his first season with the Highlanders.
Rashun Davis: Davis is a 6’4” shooting guard from Raleigh, North Carolina He transferred to Radford after playing his first two collegiate seasons at NC State. Davis averaged 12.6 points per game last season for the Highlanders.
Ed Polite Jr.: Polite is a 6’6” forward from Winston-Salem, North Carolina He averaged 11.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as a junior last season, and was named Second Team All-Big South Conference
Carlik Jones: Jones is a 6’1” point guard from Richmond, Virginia. As a sophomore last season, he averaged 10.5 points, 3 assists and 2 steals per game while shooting 41% from three-point range

These Freshmen Will Change the Game
Last season, the Radford men’s basketball team went 27-7 and won the Radford Invitational Tournament. They also clinched the Big South Conference regular season title for the second time in school history. They just missed out on an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament and they’ll be looking to take that next step this season. Here’s a look at the team:
Jared Terry is a 6’3” guard from Virginia Beach Virginia. He was a four-year starter in High School and he averaged 22 points, five assists, and four rebounds per game as a senior. He was named first-team All-State and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
Ed Polite Jr. is a 6’6” forward from Rock Hill, South Carolina He was a three-time all-state selection in high school and he averaged 16 points and nine rebounds per game as a senior. He was also named Mr. Basketball in South Carolina
Christian Willis is a 6’7” forward from Raleigh, North Carolina He was a four-year starter in high school and he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior. He was named first-team All-State and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
Andre Fox is a 6’8” forward from Charlotte, North Carolina He was a four year starter in high school and he averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior. He was named second-team All-State and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee

The Radford Men’s Basketball team has 12 players on its roster for the 2019-2020 Season Here is a look at some of the players that you will want to keep an eye on this season:
redshirt junior guard Carlik Jones is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 16 points per game He is also a threat from beyond the arc, shooting 39% from three-point range.
Senior guard Donald Hicks is averaging 9 points and 5 rebounds per game. He is a solid all-around player that can contribute in a variety of ways.
Junior forward James Walker III is averaging 8 points and 4 rebounds per game. He is a versatile player that can score inside and out.

Radford Athletics has released the Basketball Roster for the 2017-2018 season The team features 12 new players, including 6’10” center Makhi Mitchell, who is transferring from Maryland.
The roster includes:
Makhi Mitchell
A 6’10” center, Makhi is transferring from Maryland. He will be eligible to play immediately and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Dequan Waters
A 6’4″ guard, Dequan is a transfer from Oklahoma State He will be eligible to play immediately and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Ed Polite Jr.
A 6’6″ forward, Ed is a transfer from Vanderbilt. He will be eligible to play immediately and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Radford Basketball Roster Meet the Coaches
Radford University Head Coach Mike Jones announced today the introduction of his 2019-20 Coaching Staff The staff will feature associate head coach Anthony Pipkins, assistant coaches Matt McCallum and Dustin Weaver, and director of player development Drew Kelly.
Pipkins comes to Radford after serving as an Assistant Coach at Colorado State University for the past three seasons. While at CSU, he helped guide the Rams to a 72-26 record and two NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the second round in 2018. Prior to his time at CSU, Pipkins was an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for one season (2015-16) and at his alma mater, Campbell University for two seasons (2013-15).

Radford Basketball Roster What to Expect
Radford basketball is led by Head Coach Mike Jones. The team features 12 players who hail from all across the globe, including the United States Canada, England, and Australia.
Among the players is 6’7” freshman forward John Campbell, who was born in Toronto, Ontario. Following a successful high school career in which he was named a McDonald’s All-American, Campbell chose to play for Radford over offers from several Division I schools. He is expected to be a key contributor for the Highlanders this season.
Also on the roster is 6’10” sophomore center D.J. Holloway, who hails from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Holloway is a transfer from Old Dominion University where he played one season before deciding to join Radford. He will have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules, but he will be eligible to play next season.
The team also features several experienced seniors who will be looking to make an impact this season. Guard Ed Polite Jr., forward Cameron Jones, and guard Rashun Davis are all seniors who have played significant minutes during their time at Radford. They will be relied upon to provide leadership and production on both ends of the court this season.
The Radford basketball team has high aspirations for the upcoming season and they will be looking to make noise in the conference tournament come March. With a mix of experience and talent on the roster, they have everything they need to make a run at the conference title
