Introducing the Sju Women’s Basketball team
The Sju Women’s basketball team is made up of student-athletes who are committed to excellence both on and off the court. The team is led by Head Coach Katie Meier, who has been at the helm for thirteen seasons. Coach Meier has led the team to nine NCAA tournament appearances, six conference championships and one National Championship
The team is composed of players from all over the United States including five from Minnesota. The starting five for the 18-19 season are:
G/F – Alibaba Odunze
F – Maddie Irala
C – Emily Wente
G – Rachelle Coward
G – Taryn KnUTson
odunze, a native of London, England, is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. She is a versatile player who can play both inside and outside. Irala, a native of Eden Prairie MN, is the team’s second leading scorer and rebounder. She is a physical presence in the post who can also step out and shoot from long range. Wente, a native of Watertown, MN, is the team’s starting center. She is a strong defender who uses her size to her advantage on both ends of the court. Coward, a native of St. Louis Park, MN, is the team’s starting point guard She is a gifted passer and shooter who finds ways to get her teammates involved in the offense. Knutson, a native of Duluth, MN, rounds out the starting lineup She brings energy and enthusiasm to the court every day and is one of the team’s best perimeter defenders
The Sju Women’s Basketball team has been one of the most successful programs in Division III basketball over the past decade. The team has won six conference championships and made nine NCAA Tournament appearances in that time span. The road to the 2019 National Championship begins now!

The team is made up of twelve players, all of whom are talented and dedicated to their sport. The squad is led by captain Jillian Dunlap, a senior guard who has been with the team for four years. She is a two-time All-American and was named the conference player of the year last season.

The other starters include junior guard Molly McTigue, sophomore guard Anna Kielpinski, and freshman center Abby Jinx. The bench players are junior forward Rebecca Bartelli, sophomore guard Lila Blair, freshman guard Ellie Borelli, and freshman forward Kate Murphy.
This team has everything it takes to win a championship: talent, experience, depth, and determination. They have worked hard to get where they are and they are not going to let anything stand in their way.
