The Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks are a Basketball team that competes in the NCAA Division I. The team is a member of the Southland Conference and plays its home games at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Lumberjacks are coached by Kyle Keller and their mascot is Jack the Lumberjack.

The team has an all-time record of 1296-1076 and has made the NCAA tournament seven times. The Lumberjacks have won the Southland conference tournament three times and have won the regular season conference title six times. The team’s most recent appearance in the NCAA Tournament was in 2016, when they lost to West Virginia in the first round.

The Lumberjacks have had two players drafted into the NBA, Nate Archibald and Thomas Walkup.

Head Coach

Stephen F Austin is currently coached by Kyle Keller. Coach Keller is entering his fourth season as the Head Coach of the team. He has led the team to a regular season record of 25-5 and an appearance in the NCAA tournament in his third season.

Assistant Men’s basketball coach – Sam Singer
Entering his first season as an Assistant Coach at Stephen F. Austin in 2019-20, Sam Singer will work primarily with the Lumberjack big men
Singer comes to Nacogdoches after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. At Hardin-Simmons, he helped lead the Cowboys to a 15-12 overall record in 2018-19 and an appearance in the semifinals of the American Southwest conference tournament
