-Darryl “Truck” Bryant: A member of the 2012-13 All-American second team, Bryant was a key player on Stony Brook’s historic run to the NCAA tournament He went on to play professionally in Europe and China.

-Jameel Warney: Warney is Stony Brook’s All-time leading scorer and was named America East Player of the Year three times. He was also a two-time All-American. After going undrafted in 2016, Warney has played for the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA Summer League

-Tommy Brenton: Brenton is Stony Brook’s all-time leader in rebounds and steals. He played professionally in Europe and Israel after his college career ended.

-Anthony Jackson: Jackson was a member of Stony Brook’s first ever NCAA Tournament team in 2016. He now plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.

Future outlook

With Jarius Lyles and Elijah Olaniyi leading the way, the Seawolves have a chance to be really good in the next few years. Olaniyi is a 6’7″ wing who was named America East Defensive Player of the Year last season, while Lyles is a 6’4″ guard who led the conference in scoring.

The Seawolves will have to replace Akwasi Yeboah, who graduated after being named America East Player of the Year, but they have a lot of talent coming back. Tyrell Sturdivant, a 6’10” center, will be back after averaging 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season. He’ll be joined by fellow big man Jeff Otchere, who averaged 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a freshman last season.

In the backcourt, Michael Almonte will return after averaging 12.6 points per game last season. He’ll be joined by freshman point guard Bryce Aiken, who was one of the top recruits in the country last year. Aiken should provide a boost to an offense that struggled at times last season.

With all of this talent coming back, the Seawolves should be in contention for an America East title next season. They could also make some noise in the NCAA tournament if everything comes together for them.
