The University of Southern Maine Huskies are a NCAA Division III Ice hockey team that plays in the New England Hockey Conference. The Huskies are one of the most successful programs in Division III having won the National Championship in 1999 and 2001. The Huskies have also won the conference title in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2010. The Huskies have played in the Frozen Four five times, most recently in 2010.
The Huskies have a long-standing rivalry with the Norwich University Cadets. The two teams have met 96 times since their first meeting in 1936, with the Huskies holding a 46-42-8 record against their New England rivals. The two teams met four times during the 2010-2011 season, with the Huskies winning three of those contests.
