How the Catamounts’ Schedule Sets Up for the Season
The UVM men’s Hockey Team is set to embark on their 2019-2020 season campaign this October. After a tough 2018-2019 season in which the Catamounts went 13-19-2, good for a .413 win percentage and a 9th place finish in Hockey East the boys from Burlington are looking to take a step forward this season.
One area in which the team will look to improve is their out of conference play Last season, the Catamounts had a tough time against non-conference foes, going just 4-10-2. This included some bad losses to teams like Holy Cross Sacred Heart and Arizona State The good news is that the Catamounts’ schedule this season appears to be much more manageable. They will still face some tough opponents early on in the year with road games at Bemidji State and St. Cloud State but they also have some very winnable games against ranged teams like Niagara and Bentley.
If the Catamounts can put together a strong non-conference record and then carry that momentum into Hockey East play, they should be in line for a much better season than they had last year. Below is a list of all of UVM’s non-conference games, as well as their conference record from last year for reference. Be sure to catch the Catamounts in action this season!
Opponent (Last Year’s Conference Record)
Bemidji State (15-16-5, 12th in WCHA)
Niagara (13-19-4, 10th in AHA)
St. Cloud State (20-11-6, 4th in NCHC)
Bentley (17-13-6, 7th in Atlantic Hockey)
Potential Pitfalls for the Catamounts
As the most successful team in Hockey East history, the University of Vermont Men’s Hockey Team is used to winning. This year, they may have their work cut out for them.
Conclusion
The UVM men’s Hockey team is poised to have another great season. With a strong group of returning players and some talented newcomers, the Catamounts should be in contention for both the Hockey East regular season and tournament titles. While the schedule is always subject to change, fans can expect exciting games against some of the best teams in college hockey

With only four games left in the Regular Season the UVM men’s Hockey team is fighting for a spot in the Hockey East Tournament The Catamounts currently sit in ninth place in the conference standings, just outside of the playoffs. However, with a few wins in their final games, the team could easily move up into eighth place and secure a spot in the tournament.
The Catamounts will face off against some tough competition in their final games. They will take on Merrimack, Northeastern, and Boston College all of which are ranked higher than UVM in the conference standings. While these will be tough games, they are also winnable for the Catamounts.
