The Valpo Baseball schedule is out, and there are some great games to look forward to! Here are some of the top match-ups to keep an eye on.

Upcoming games

The Valparaiso University Crusaders will take on the University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers in a three-game series this weekend, April 5-7. The Crusaders are coming off a four-game series split with the Bradley Braves

This will be the first meeting between the Crusaders and Blazers since 2014, when Valpo won two of three games in Birmingham. The Crusaders are 10-8 all-time against UAB, but just 2-5 in games played in Birmingham.

The series will begin on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m., with senior Mike Schneider (Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph) taking the mound for the Crusaders. Schneider is 1-1 on the season with a 2.12 ERA in four starts, striking out 21 batters in 21.2 innings pitched He’ll be opposed by UAB junior right-hander Dylan Duarte, who is also 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in four starts this season.

On Saturday, the Crusaders will send junior Mark McCoy (ukiahSEARERTHgfvcbNYO23derbFR/Mendocino [Calif.] JC) to the mound for game two of the series at 2 p.m., followed by sophomore Blake BBalance (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) making his Valpo debut in Sunday’s series finale at 1 p.m.”

if you’re a Valpo fan, you know that the Crusaders’ biggest rivals are the UW-Milwaukee Panthers and the UIC Flames Both of these schools are just a short drive away, so there’s always a big turnout from both sides when these two teams meet. This year, the Crusaders will take on the Panthers at home on April 28th and 29th and then again on the road May 12th-13th. The Flames will come to town May 18-19th.

Another team to watch out for is Indiana State The Sycamores are always a tough opponent, and they’ll be especially dangerous this year with Louisville transfer Sean Lampley leading their offense. The Crusaders will take on Indiana State at home April 14-15 and then again on the road April 21-22.

On April 12, the Crusaders take on another conference foe, the Wright State Raiders. The Raiders are always a tough team, but Valpo is ready to take them on. This game is sure to be another great one!

On April 26, the Crusaders take on yet another conference foe, the University of Detroit Mercy Titans The Titans are always a tough team, but Valpo is ready to take them on. This game is sure to be another great one!

The postseason

As the regular season comes to a close, the Valparaiso University baseball team is preparing for the postseason. The Crusaders have clinched a spot in the Missouri Valley conference tournament and will be seeded No. 4 when the event begins on Wednesday, May 23.

The Crusaders will open nt play against No. 5 seed Bradley at 2 p.m. CDT on Wednesday at Dozer Park in Peoria, Illinois. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.com, with Alec Lewis and Jonathon Sharkey on the call.

If Valpo wins its opening game, it will face top-seeded Dallas Baptist at 8 p.m. CDT on Thursday with a spot in the semifinals on the line. A loss would put the Crusaders into an elimination game against either No. 8 seed Southern Illinois or No. 9 seed Illinois State at 2 p.m. Friday with a berth in the semifinals at stake as well.
