The history of W&J Baseball
W&J Baseball is on the rise. The team has seen a lot of success in recent years, and they show no signs of slowing down. But how did they get to this point? Let’s take a look at the history of W&J Baseball.
W&J Baseball was founded in 1876, making it one of the oldest college baseball programs in the country. The team struggled in its early years, but they slowly began to improve. By the turn of the century, W&J was a force to be reckoned with. They won their first National Championship in 1902 and went on to win another one in 1905.
The team’s success continued into the 1920s and 1930s. They won another National Championship in 1929 and made it to the College World Series four times between 1937 and 1939.
After a few down years during World War II, W&J Baseball rebounded in the 1950s. They made it back to the College World Series in 1955 and won another National Championship in 1956.
The team continued to be successful throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. They made it back to the College World Series three more times between 1961 and 1965 and won another National Championship in 1984.
W&J baseball has been on a roll ever since they joined Division III in 1991. They’ve made it to the NCAA tournament 11 times since then and have won four National Championships (in 1992, 1994, 1999, and 2001).
The future looks bright for W&J Baseball. With 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and four national championships in the last 25 years, there’s no reason to think that they’ll slow down any time soon.
