The Wofford basketball team is made up of student-athletes who are passionate about the game and committed to representing their school. From the starting five to the bench, each member of the team plays an important role in the success of the squad. Get to know the 2017-2018 Wofford Terriers!

Guards

-Isaiah Bigelow: A junior from Spartanburg, SC, Bigelow is a dangerous three-point shooter who gives it his all on both ends of the court.
-Storm Murphy: A freshman from Charlotte, NC, Murphy is a savvy point guard who sees the court well and makes smart decisions with the ball.
-Nathan Hoover: A senior from Gastonia, NC, Hoover is a sharpshooter with deep range and a High Basketball IQ. He is also a tenacious defender.
-Jaylen Allen: A sophomore from Columbia, SC, Allen is an explosive guard who can score in bunches. He is developing into a leader on and off the court.

Forwards/Centers

-Fletcher Magee: A junior from Orlando, FL, Magee is one of the best shooters in college basketball He can also put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim.
-Cameron Jackson: A senior from Shelby, NC, Jackson is a tough post player who does all of the little things to help his team win games. He is one of the best rebounders in the Southern Conference
-Dré Thornton Jr.: A sophomore from Cincinnati, OH, Thornton is a versatile forward who can score inside and out. He has a high motor and always seems to make hustle plays when his team needs them most.

Wofford Basketball Roster Meet the Coach

Wofford basketball coach Mike Young enters his eighteenth season as the Terriers’ Head Coach He has led Wofford to five NCAA Tournaments, four Southern Conference regular season titles and three Southern conference tournament championships. Under his leadership, the Terriers have won twenty or more games in eleven seasons, including a school-record thirty-two wins during the 2017-2018 campaign. Prior to his time at Wofford, Coach Young served as an Assistant Coach at Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth University

Wofford Basketball Roster Meet the Captains

Wofford will look to defend its Southern conference title this season with a strong mix of returning veterans and talented newcomers. The Terriers have 12 returners from last year’s squad that went 25-10 overall and 15-3 in the SoCon. Wofford also welcomes five newcomers to the team.

Leading the way for the Terriers this season will be senior captains Nathan Hoover and Storm Murphy. Hoover, a 6-foot-5 guard from Greer, South Carolina is Wofford’s leading returning scorer after averaging 13.2 points per game last season. Murphy, a 6-foot guard from Charlotte, North Carolina is the team’s top returning three-point shooter after knocking down 42 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc last year.

The Wofford Basketball team is made up of 15 athletes from across the country. The Terriers have just two seniors on their roster: Jaylen Allen and Matthew Pegram. Both players are excited for their final season in college basketball and hope to lead the team to success. Here’s a closer look at each senior:

Jaylen Allen:
Allen is a 6-foot-3-inch guard from Charlotte, North Carolina He’s been a starter for the Terriers since his sophomore year and is one of the team’s most experienced players. He averaged 9.5 points per game last season and is expected to be a key leader on this year’s team.

Matthew Pegram:
Pegram is a 6-foot-7-inch forward from Lexington, Kentucky. He transferred to Wofford last season after two years at Transylvania University Pegram averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in his first season with the Terriers and will be looked to for increased production this year.

Ford Basketball will look to build on their success from last season with a talented group of returners. The junior class will be looked to for leadership and production on the court. Below is a list of the junior members of the Wofford basketball team

Finn Dirstine: Dirstine was a key player off the bench for the Terriers last season, averaging 5.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in just under 16 minutes per game. The 6’9” forward provides size and athleticism, and will look to contribute more as a junior.

Storm Murphy: Murphy averaged 7.1 points and 2 assists per game last season, shooting 41% from three-point range The shooting guard provides outside shooting and ball handling, and will look to increase his scoring production as a junior.

Chevez Goodwin: Goodwin is coming off of a breakout sophomore season in which he averaged 11 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 60% from the field. The 6’8” forward is an excellent interior scorer and rebounder, and will be one of the leaders of the team as a junior.

Chase is a talented guard who loves to shoot threes. He is a great shooter and he has the ability to score in a variety of ways. Chase is also a good defender and he has the potential to be a very good player at the college level.

Hometown: Atlanta, GA
high school Pace Academy Matthew is a versatile forward who can play both inside and out. He is a very good rebounder and he has a nice touch around the basket. Matthew is also a very good shooter and he has the ability to stretch the defense with his Three-point shooting

Wofford Basketball Roster Meet the Freshmen

Wofford College’s 2019 Basketball Recruiting class is made up of five players from around the country. Here’s a closer look at each of the Terriers’ new additions:

• Storm Murphy (6-1, guard): A native of Charlotte, North Carolina Murphy comes to Wofford after a successful high school career at Charlotte Latin School. He was a three-time all-conference selection and led the Hawks to a conference championship as a senior.

• Isaiah Williams (6-7, forward): Williams is a versatile forward from Lithonia, Georgia. He played his high school ball at Martin Luther King Jr. high school where he was namedto the all-state team as a senior.

• Nathan Hoover (6-5, guard): Hoover is a shooting guard from Greenville, South Carolina He played his high school ball at J.L. Mann Academy, where he was a three-time all-conference selection.

• Jaemyn Brakefield (6-8, forward): Brakefield is an athletic forward from Charlotte, North Carolina He played his high school ball at Myers Park High School where he was named to the all-conference team as a senior.

• Matthew Pegram (6-10, center): Pegram is a big body in the paint from Shelby, North Carolina He played his High School ball at Crest high school where he was named to the all-conference team as a senior.

Wofford Basketball Roster Player Profiles

Wofford college is home to one of the best basketball teams in the country. The team is led by head coach Mike Young and assistant coach Nathan Davis. They have a combined record of over 1,000 wins and losses. The team is made up of 12 players from all over the United States

Sophomore Storm Murphy is from Asheville, North Carolina He is 6’1” and 190 pounds. He was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team last year. He averaged 10.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3 assists per game last season.

Senior Matthew Pegram is from Charlotte, North Carolina He is 6’8” and 245 pounds. He was named second team All-Southern Conference last year. He averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game last season.

Junior Trevor Stumpe is from Greenwood, South Carolina He is 6’3” and 195 pounds. He averaged 11 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist per game last season.

Redshirt junior Chevez Goodwin is from Columbia, South Carolina He missed all of last season with an injury but was a key player on the team the year before when they won the Southern Conference Championship

Wofford Basketball Roster Schedule and Results

The Wofford Terriers men’s basketball team represents Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina The Terriers compete in the Southern Conference in Division I of the NCAA.

The team is currently coached by Mike Young, who is in his 17th season as Head Coach Wofford has appeared in four NCAA Tournaments (1999, 2003, 2010, 2015) and five National Invitation Tournaments (2004, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2019). The Terriers have won the Southern Conference regular season title four times and have won the conference tournament four times.

Wofford’s first basketball game was played on February 16, 1908 against Furman. The Terriers are 1,334–1,447 all-time. They have appeared in the NCAA tournament four times and the National Invitation Tournament five times.
