The Georgian Court University women’s basketball team is a NCAA Division II program that competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

The Court Cats: Introducing the team

The Georgian Court University women’s Basketball team is full of hardworking, passionate and talented student-athletes. Also known as the Court Cats, the team trains rigorously and works hard to perfect their craft on the court. They are a close-knit group who support and push each other to be the best they can be, both on and off the court.

The Court Cats are led by Head Coach Katie McShea, who has been with the team for three years. During her time at GCU, Coach McShea has helped the team make incredible strides, both in terms of their skills and their team spirit She is a demanding but fair coach who has instilled a strong work ethic in her players. Under her guidance, the Court Cats have become a force to be reckoned with, both in conference play and in national tournaments.

The team is made up of 12 student-athletes, all of whom are dedicated to their studies and their sport. Some players have been playing basketball since they were kids, while others started later on in High School or even in college. But what they all have in common is a love for the game and a determination to succeed.

The Court Cats have had an impressive season so far, with a conference record of 8-2. They are currently ranked 5th in the nation in Division II women’s basketball and are poised to make a run at the conference Championship Title Be sure to catch them in action if you can – you won’t be disappointed!

As the snow begins to melt and warmer weather approaches, thoughts turn to the hardwood and the sound of basketballs bouncing. For the Georgian Court University women’s basketball team the 2017-18 Season was one to remember. The team made it to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history and finished with a school-record 30 wins.

With such a successful season in the rearview mirror, what does this season hold in store for the Lions? head coach Latrice Morton takes a look at her team as they get ready to tip off the 2018-19 campaign.

The court cats are the women’s Basketball team at Georgian Court University. The team is currently in its inaugural season, and is coached by Head Coach Lauren Thompson. The court cats play their home games at the Wellness Center on the campus of Georgian Court University.

The team consists of fourteen players, all of whom are freshmen. The team’s leading scorer is shooting guard Jada Brooks, who is averaging 17.1 points per game The court cats have had a successful inaugural season so far, with a record of 12-4.

One area where the court cats have been particularly successful is on defense. The team is allowing just 45 points per game which ranks them fourth in the nation in points allowed per game. A big reason for the team’s success on defense has been the play of center Keyanna Warthen, who leads the nation in blocks per game with 4.0.

Katelyn is a tall and athletic player who is a force on both ends of the court. She can shoot and rebound with the best of them and is always hustling for loose balls.

The court cats of Georgian Court University’s women’s basketball team are more than just athletes—they’re scholars, sisters, and friends. And when they’re not on the court, you can find them studying for their next big exam, spending time with their families, or giving back to the community.

Courtney Nelson, a senior point guard from Middletown, New Jersey, is majoring in psychology and plans to pursue a career in sports counseling. “I want to help athletes with the mental aspects of their game,” she says.

Freshman shooting guard Kayla Jones is from Neptune, New Jersey, and is interested in a career in Physical Therapy “I love helping people and I want to be able to do that as a career,” she says.

Both Courtney and Kayla say they ve learned a lot about dedication, time management and teamwork through their basketball experiences—lessons that will serve them well in their future endeavors.

The Georgian Court University women’s basketball team will open its 2017-18 season on Friday, hosting Post University at the Wellness Center.

The Lions are coming off a 16-15 campaign in which they finished second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division and earned a spot in the ACC tournament

Head coach Alex Lanau-Kai enters her third season at the helm of the program, and she will be looking to lead GCU to its first CACC title and first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in school history.

The team held its Media Day on Thursday morning, with Lanau-Kai and seniors Cassidy Boensch, Keilah Johnson, Carly Thibault, and Alexus Winters addressing the assembled media.

Boensch, a 5’9” guard from Jackson, N.J., is the team’s leading returning scorer after averaging 9.5 points per game last season. She will be joined in the backcourt by Johnson, a 5’7” guard from Trenton, N.J., who averaged 8.5 points per game as a junior.

Thibault, a 6’0” forward from Pointe-Claire, Quebec, is the Lions’ top returning rebounder after averaging 6.4 boards per game last season. She will be joined up front by Winters, a 6’1” forward from Newark, N.J., who averaged 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a junior.

The squad, nicknamed the Court Cats, punched their ticket with a 78-63 win over Seattle in the WAC Tournament Championship game Head coach Kevin Burch and his team will now take on Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament The Court Cats are ready to make some noise and dance their way into the second round!
