Murray State basketball A Look at the Stats

In recent years Murray State University’s men’s basketball team has had a lot of success. They have won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship three times in the last five years, and have made the NCAA tournament three times in that same span.

While much of the team’s success has been due to its talented roster, Head Coach Steve Prohm has also done a great job of putting his players in position to succeed. In this article, we will take a look at some of the team’s offensive and defensive statistics from the last five seasons to see how they have been able to maintain such a high level of play.

On offense, Murray State has been very efficient, scoring 1.15 points per possession during the last five seasons. This is due in part to the fact that they have been very good at taking care of the ball, as they have turned it over on just 16.4% of their possessions during that time period.

They have also been very good at getting to the Free Throw Line as they have averaged 22.1 free throw attempts per 100 possessions during the last five years. And while they haven’t been the best shooting team in the nation, they have still managed to shoot 46.4% from two-point range and 35.1% from three-point range during that time period.

Defensively, Murray State has been very solid as well, allowing just 0.96 points per possession during the last five seasons. Much of this is due to their ability to force turnovers, as they have averaged a turnover percentage of 22.0% during that time period.

They have also done a good job of containing opposing teams’ shooting percentages, as they have held opponents to 41.4% shooting from two-point range and 30.7% shooting from three-point range during the last five years.

Looking at all of these numbers, it is clear that Murray State has built a Basketball Program that is able to sustain success over time. And with Prohm still at the helm, it is likely that they will continue to be one of the top teams in the Ohio Valley Conference for years to come
