UTSA is a members of Conference USA and competes in Division I of the NCAA. The Roadrunners have been to the NCAA tournament three times in school history, with their most recent appearance coming in 2020. In addition to basketball, UTSA also offers 18 other varsity sports including football, baseball, softball, and soccer.

The team is led by Coach Gregg Popovich who has been with the program since its inception in 2011. He has led the team to two conference championships and four NCAA tournament appearances. The team’s star players are Derrick White, Lonnie Walker, and Keaton Wallace. White is a senior guard who is averaging 17 points per game He is a two-time All-American and was recently named the Conference Player of the Year. Walker is a freshman guard who is averaging 14 points per game He was named the Conference Freshman of the Year and was recently named to the All-Conference first team. Wallace is a senior forward who is averaging 15 points per game and led the team in rebounding this season.
