The Worst NBA players of All Time
When we think about the NBA, we usually think about the greats: Michael Jordan Magic Johnson Larry Bird etc. But what about the other end of the spectrum? In every sport, there are always going to be players who just aren’t cut out for the big leagues Below is a list of some of the worst NBA players of all time.
First on our list is LaRue Martin. He was selected first overall in the 1972 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers He played in just 26 games during his rookie season and averaged 4.3 points per game He was traded to the Chicago Bulls after his rookie season and played in a total of 71 games over three seasons, averaging 3.7 points per game before he was out of the league for good.
Next up is Sam Bowie. He was drafted second overall by the Trail Blazers in 1984, ahead of future Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley He played in 139 games over parts of five seasons with the Trail Blazers before injuries forced him to retire. In his career, he averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds per game
Another player on our list is Chris Washburn. He was drafted third overall by the Golden State Warriors in 1986 and played just two seasons in the NBA before he was out of the league for good. In his career, he averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds per game
Finally, we have Greg Oden He was drafted first overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2007 but injuries limited him to just 82 games over parts of four seasons. He averaged 9 points and 7 rebounds per game before he was out of basketball altogether.
The Most Overrated NBA players of All Time
Twelve-time All-Star and five-Ime Nba champion Kobe Bryant is universally respected as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. However, there are those who argue that Bryant is actually one of the most overrated players in NBA history
Bryant entered the league straight out of High School and was immediately thrust into the spotlight. He was given the starting shooting guard spot on a Los Angeles Lakers team that already featured All-Stars in Shaquille O’Neal and Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. While Bryant did win three championships alongside O’Neal, many believe that he was greatly aided by playing with one of the best centers of all time.
In his individual seasons, Bryant has only been named MVP once (during the 2007-2008 season), despite putting up consistent numbers throughout his career. When compared to other greats like Michael Jordan and Lebron James who have both won MVP multiple times, some feel that Kobe doesn’t measure up.
There are also those who believe that Bryant is a poor sportsman and a bad teammate. He has been known to throw tantrums on the court and has often been accused of hogging the ball rather than involving his teammates. This individualistic style of play may have led to some success for Kobe, but it has also alienated him from many fans and fellow players over the years.
So is Kobe Bryant truly one of the greatest players ever? Or is he simply one of the most overrated? The answer may depend on who you ask.
