2017-18 Roster:

The 2017-18 Season will be the first under new Head Coach Jonathon Tsipis. There are many familiar faces on the roster, but there are also a few new ones. Let’s get to know the team a bit better.

Guard: Kennedy Burke
Burke is a redshirt senior who spent last season with the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks after graduating from UCLA. She will be eligible to play immediately for the Buffs and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Forward: Valeree’ Young
Young is a 6-3 forward who will also be eligible to play immediately for the Buffs. She spent last season at Tyler Junior College where she was named an NJCAA honorable mention All-American.

Guard: Mya Hollingshed
Hollingshed is a 6-2 guard out of Denver East High School She was named Ms. Basketball in Colorado last season after leading her team to a state championship She was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Colorado.

Forward: Peanut Tuitele
Tuitele is a 6-2 forward from Reno, Nevada. She was a four-star recruit according to ESPN and was ranked as the No. 58 player in the country by Prospects Nation.

2017-18 Schedule:

The Colorado Buffaloes will open the 2017-18 season with a exhibition game against Arkansas-Fort Smith on Nov. 1. The regular season will begin Nov. 10, when the Buffs host Northern Colorado

Colorado will participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament over Thanksgiving, opening against SMU on Nov. 22. The Buffs will also face Creighton or Niagara in the second round and could play Wisconsin, VCU, Florida or Stanford in the tournament semifinals.

Other notable games on Colorado’s schedule include a Dec. 2 home matchup against Xavier, a Dec. 5 road contest at Kansas and a Jan. 27 Home game against Utah.

The Buffs will close out the regular season with a Feb. 28 road game at UCLA and a March 3 home contest against Washington State

2017-18 Results:

The 2017-18 season was the Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team’s 103rd season of play and their 42nd within the Pac-12 Conference. The Buffaloes finished the season with an overall record of 21–12, and went 10–8 in Pac-12 play to finish in a three-way tie for sixth place. In the Pac-12 Tournament, they defeated Washington State in the first round before losing to eventual tournament champion Arizona in the quarterfinals. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 11 seed in the South region, where they lost in the First Round to Texas A&M.

It’s no secret that the Colorado Buffaloes men’s Basketball Program has struggled in recent years In the 2016-17 season they went just 11-21 and 3-15 in conference play But, there is some hope for the future. The 2017-18 team will have a new Head Coach in Mike Hopkins and he’s brought in a talented group of assistant coaches Here’s a closer look at the 2017-18 CU Basketball Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Mike Hopkins
Hopkins comes to Colorado from Syracuse where he was an Assistant Coach for 22 years. He was a part of the Syracuse Coaching Staff that won the National Championship in 2003 and he was promoted to associate Head coach in 2015. Hopkins is known for his ability to develop players and he’s had success recruiting top prospects from across the country.

Associate head coach Nakhi Wells
Wells also comes to Colorado from Syracuse where he spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach under Hopkins. Wells is a native of Brooklyn, New York and he played college basketball at Niagara University He has experience coaching at the Division I level and he’s considered one of the top recruiters in the country.

Assistant Coach: Rodney Terry
Terry comes to Colorado from Fresno State where he served as the head coach for the last six seasons. He led Fresno State to two NCAA Tournament appearances and he was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2016. Terry is known for his ability to develop players and he has experience recruiting internationally.

Assistant Coach: Roman Castellanos
Castellanos joins the Colorado staff after spending last season as an assistant coach at Grand Canyon University He’s originally from Los Angeles California and he played college basketball at Eastern Washington University. Castellanos has experience coaching at various levels and he’s considered one of the top young coaches in the country

The 2017-18 Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team will represent the University of Colorado at Boulder during the 2017-18 NCAA Division I men’s Basketball season The Buffaloes, led by second-year head coach Tad Boyle will play their home games at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colorado as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the 2016-17 season 21–12, 10–8 in Pac-12 play to finish in fifth place. They defeated Washington in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament before losing to Oregon in the quarterfinals. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 8 seed where they lost in the first round to Xavier.

2017-18 record book

The 2017-18 season was a historic one for the CU Basketball Program The team compiled a 21-12 record, won the Pac-12 Conference Regular Season title and made its first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2014.

In addition to their on-court success, the Buffs also excelled in the classroom, posting a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for a school-record seventh consecutive semester.

Leading the way for the team were seniors George King and Dominc Collier, who were both named All-Pac-12 First Team. King averaged 14.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while Collier averaged 13.6 points, 3.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

Also contributing to the team’s success were junior Derrick White, who was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, junior Xavier Johnson and sophomore McKinley Wright IV, who was named to the All-Pac-12 Freshman Team.

The 2017-18 CU basketball team will go down as one of the most successful in school history and its members will be remembered for their accomplishments on and off the court.

2017-18 NCAA tournament

The 2017-18 NCAA College Basketball season is fast approaching, and with it comes high expectations for the defending champions, the North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams has a talented roster but will be without two Key Players from last year’s title run: Justin Jackson and Kennedy Meeks.

The Tar Heels will look to replace their production with a mix of experience and youth. Seniors Joel Berry II and Theo Pinson will provide leadership and scoring, while freshmen like Jalek Felton and Coby White will be counted on to contribute immediately.
