Justin Turner played basketball for Mayfair High School in Lakewood, California. He was not highly recruited and did not receive any Division I scholarship offers. He was, however, offered a spot on the varsity team at California State University Los Angeles (CSULA).

After redshirting his first year at CSULA, Turner saw very little playing time his sophomore year. It wasn’t until his junior year that he began to see regular minutes. He averaged 12.7 points per game that season and was named to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) first team.

As a senior, Turner averaged 17.4 points per game and led CSULA to the NCAA Division II tournament. He was again named to the All-CCAA first team and was also named the CCAA Player of the Year.

Turner went undrafted in the 2010 NBA draft but had a successful Summer League with the Los Angeles Lakers He earned a spot on the Lakers’ roster but only played in nine games before being waived. Turner then had stints with the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Development League (D-League) and Santuria Mexican League before returning to the D-League with the Tulsa 66ers in 2012.

In 2013, Turner signed a 10-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers and then a second 10-day contract with them before being signed for the remainder of the season. He played well for Philly, averaging 10 points per game in 19 games. Turner’s strong play led to him signing a multi-year deal with the Sixers in 2014.

Turner’s Clippers career came to an end in 2014 when he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder He played just one season with the Thunder before being traded again, this time to the New Orleans Pelicans Turner played well for the Pelicans, averaging 11.5 points and 4.1 assists per game but he was dealt once again ahead of the 2016-17 season this time to the Houston Rockets

Turner spent just half a season with the Rockets before being waived in early 2017. He was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Timberwolves but was waived by them just a few weeks later. Turner’s NBA career appeared to be over, but he got one more chance when he was signed by the Golden State Warriors in March of 2017. He appeared in seven regular season games and five Playoff Games for the Warriors before being released at the end of the season.

Justin Turner’s professional career began in 2006 when he was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the NBA Draft He was then immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers Turner only played in two games for the Lakers during his rookie season, averaging 1.5 Points per game He was later waived by the Lakers and spent time playing in the NBA D-League and overseas before eventually finding his way back to the NBA.

Turner signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014 and played a key role off the bench for them during their playoff run that season. He averaged 9.4 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game during the playoffs. The following season, Turner became a starter for the 76ers and had a breakout year, averaging 17.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game

Turner’s strong play helped him earn a spot on Team USA’s roster for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He averaged 8.3 points per game as Team USA went on to win gold medal
