Mayville State baseball is on the Rise! The Comets are a Division II team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The team is coming off a strong 2018 season in which they had a record of 27-22. They are looking to continue their success in 2019. Head Coach Steve Huskey is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Comets. He is assisted by pitching coach Tyler Bump, who is also in his fourth season.

We caught up with head coach Wes Burdine to chat about the team’s recent success and what the future holds for Mayville State Baseball

Coach Burdine has been with the team for three years, and he’s seen firsthand how far they’ve come.

“When I first got here, we were really struggling,” he said. “We had a lot of talent, but we just couldn’t seem to get over the hump.”

The turning point came last year, when the team finally put it all together and made it to the Conference Championship game. They lost that game, but they gained a lot of confidence in the process.

“That was a huge moment for us,” Coach Burdine said. “It showed us that we could compete with anyone in our conference.”
