As the college Basketball season comes to a close, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament selection committee announced the 68 teams that will be competing in this year’s tournament. Shortly after the field was revealed, the National Basketball Association (NBA) released the order for the first 14 picks of the 2018 NBA Draft

The Phoenix Suns will have the first overall pick in the draft, followed by the Sacramento Kings Atlanta Hawks Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks The Orlando Magic will have the sixth pick, followed by the Chicago Bulls Cleveland Cavaliers (from Brooklyn), New York Knicks Philadelphia 76ers (from Los Angeles Lakers), Charlotte Hornets Los Angeles Clippers (from Detroit), Los Angeles Clippers (from Houston), and Denver Nuggets

The Suns finished with a league-worst 21-61 record this season. The Kings had slightly better luck, finishing 27-55 to earn the second overall pick. The Hawks finished 24-58, while the Grizzlies and Mavericks both tied for fourth worst in the league with records of 24-58.

The draft will be held on June 21st at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

There’s a lot of excitement and speculation surrounding who will go where but, at the moment, these are the teams that have earned the right to select first in each round of the upcoming NBA Draft

The Timberwolves finished with the Worst Record in the league last season and so they will have the first choice of player in every round. They will be hoping to use that top pick to add a young star to their team as they look to rebuild following a difficult few years.

The Lakers also had a disappointing season, finishing outside of the playoff places in eleventh position in the Western Conference But they will be looking to use their high draft pick to add another talented player to their roster as they look to return to contending for championships in the near future.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans made some big strides last season, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2015. They will be hoping that their high draft pick can help them take another step forward next year as they look to build on that progress.
