Who Has Won the Most NBA Player of the Week Awards?

With the NBA season in Full Swing we take a look at which player has won the most Player of the Week awards in the history of the league.

LeBron James

As of April 2019, Lebron James has won six Player of the Week awards in his career. He is tied for second all-time with Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone behind only Michael Jordan who has won 10 Player of the Week awards.

He entered the NBA directly from High School and won five NBA championships with the Lakers. Bryant is an 18-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA team and 12-time member of the All-Defensive team He led the NBA in scoring during two seasons, and ranks fourth on the league’s all-time regular season scoring and all-time postseason scoring lists. He is also the All-time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history. Kobe had one of the most successful careers in NBA history winning numerous awards and setting multiple records.

Kobe was a 2x NBA Finals MVP, 1x regular season MVP, 18x NBA All-Star 11x First Team All-NBA Selection, 9x First Team All-Defense Selection, and 4x NBA All-Star game MVP. He also won an Olympic gold medal as a member of the 2008 United States Men’s basketball team Kobe’s individual accomplishments are staggering; he’s a 2x Scoring Champion, holds the record for most seasons played with one team (20), and is 3rd all time in points scored (33,643). Kobe was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.

Michael Jordan has won the most NBA player of the Week awards with 16 awards.

Kevin Durant

As of the 2019-2020 NBA season Kevin Durant has won the most Player of the Week awards with eighteen. Second on the list is Lebron James with sixteen awards, followed by Kobe Bryant and Russell Westbrook tied for third place with eleven awards each.

Russell Westbrook

As of the 2019-2020 Season Russell Westbrook has won the most NBA player of the Week awards with 16.

Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade has won the NBA player of the Week award a total of 21 times throughout his career. He is closely followed by Lebron James who has won the award 18 times. Other players who have been awarded the Player of the Week title multiple times include Kobe Bryant Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry has won more NBA Player of the Week awards than any other player in history. He has been honored with the award a total of six times, four of which came during the 2015-2016 season. Lebron James is second on the all-time list with five Player of the Week awards.

Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves has won the most NBA player of the Week awards, with six. He is followed by Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Russell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets who have both won four times.

Anthony Davis

As of the 2019-2020 NBA season Anthony Davis has won the most Player of the Week awards with 9.

James Harden

As of the 2019-2020 season James Harden has won the most NBA Player of the Week awards with 16.
