The Roster

The South Carolina State men’s Basketball team represents South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina United States The school’s team currently competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference They are currently coached by Murray Garvin.

The starting lineup for the SC State men’s basketball team is:

-PG, K.J. Feagin: A senior from Chicago, Feagin is the team’s leading scorer and a big reason why the team is off to a hot start this season. Averaging over 15 points per game he is a big threat from long range and can take over a game if given the chance.

-SG, Tyson Jolly: A transfer from UNC-Asheville, Jolly is in his first season with the team. He has been a revelation, averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds per game He has been a key player in the team’s success this season.

-SF, Jairus Lyles: Another senior, Lyles is one of the team’s best defenders and brings a lot of experience to the court. He is averaging 10 points per game and is a key player on both ends of the court.

-PF, Samuel Ross: A junior from Columbia, Ross is one of the team’s most athletic players. He is averaging 9 points and 5 rebounds per game and is a big factor in the team’s success this season.

-C, Malik Martin: A freshman from Charleston, Martin is one of the team’s up-and-coming players. He is averaging 8 points and 6 rebounds per game and has shown great promise for the future.

-Wale E. Abraham: Wale is a walk-on guard from Richland, SC. He originally joined the team as a manager, but with his hard work and dedication, he was able to earn a spot on the roster. Wale is known for his infectious smile and positive attitude

-Joseph Chealey: Joseph is a graduate transfer from Charlotte. He is a 6’4″ guard who is looking to make an impact in his final year of eligibility. Joseph is originally from Long Island NY.

The Coach

Coach Anderson is currently in his fourth season as the head men’s basketball coach at South Carolina

In his first three seasons, Coach Anderson led the Gamecocks to a record of 54-60 (.474), including a 22-32 (.407) mark in SEC play.

Under Anderson’s guidance, the Gamecocks have improved their win total and SEC win total in each of the last three seasons.

In 2017-18, South Carolina went 16-16 overall and 7-11 in SEC play to finish in a tie for 11th place in the Conference Standings It marked the first time since 2014-15 that the Gamecocks finished with a .500 or better record overall and the first time since 2013-14 that they did so in SEC play.

The Schedule

Senior guard Jarius Hamilton is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 16 points per game He’ll be joined in the backcourt by junior college transfer Gregmilitary Harden, who is expected to make an immediate impact.

In the frontcourt, senior forward Eric McClellan will be the Bulldogs’ top option inside, while junior wing Tashombe Riley will provide a spark on both ends of the floor.

The South Carolina Gamecocks men’s basketball team is in a period of transition. They have a new head coach in Frank Martin and they’re coming off a disappointing season in which they failed to make the NCAA tournament The team is also losing its two best players, Devan Downey and Dominique Archie, to graduation.
