2008 All Nba Team

No all-NBA team is more loaded with talent than the 2008 edition. The first team features two of the top three vote getters in league MVP voting, as well as the Defensive Player of the Year and the sixth man of the Year. The second team is nearly as good, with the league’s leading scorer and two more top-five MVP finishers. The third team might be even better, with another MVP candidate and the league’s assists leader. It’s a tribute to the depth of talent in the NBA that such a star-studded squad couldn’t crack the top three.

The teams were selected by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. The media members were asked to vote for five players for each team, regardless of position. Two guards, two forwards and one center were chosen for each squad, with voters free to choose any combination of players.

The team consisted of three All-NBA First Team members, three All-NBA Second Team members, and two All-NBA Third Team members. For each player selected, they earned five points for their respective team.

The Houston Rockets had the most selections of any team with two players ( Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady) earningFirst Team recognition and one player ( Shane Battier) being named to the Second Team. The Boston Celtics were the only other team with multiple selections, as forward Kevin Garnett and guard Ray Allen were both named to the First Team.

Shaquille O’Neal, who was traded from the Miami Heat to the Phoenix Suns during the season, was the only player to be named to all three teams. He was also the only player to be named to the first team for two consecutive years.

Forwards – Paul Pierce(Boston Celtics), Pau Gasol(Los Angeles Lakers Amare Stoudemire(Phoenix Suns). Guards-Allen Iverson(Denver Nuggets), Brandon Roy(Portland Trail Blazers) Kobe was the only player to earn all 119 first team votes. Duncan was the only player voted to all three teams.

Amare Stoudemire and Dwyane Wade were both named to their second All-NBA teams while Chris Paul earned his first career All-NBA Team selection.
