The 2010 NBA Free agency period is upon us, and there are a number of big-name players available. Here’s a look at the top ten free agents and where they might end up.

2010 NBA free agency The Top Ten Players

2010 NBA Free Agency is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory. With many teams having ample salary cap space there will be a lot of player movement and a lot of big money contracts handed out. Here is a look at the top ten free agents this summer, and where they might end up.

1. Lebron James – The biggest name on the list, and perhaps the best player in the world. James will have his pick of just about any team in the league, and will command a max contract no matter where he goes. The frontrunners seem to be the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks although the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and New Jersey Nets will all make solid pitches as well.

2. Dwyane Wade – Wade also has his choice of just about any team, but it’s believed that he would like to stay in Miami and play with fellow superstar Lebron James The Heat will obviously make a max contract offer, but Wade will listen to pitches from other teams as well. The Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks will both make strong runs at him as well.

3. Amar’e Stoudemire – Stoudemire is one of the best pure scorers in the league, and he proved last season that he can carry a team on his back. He’ll have several suitors this summer, but it’s believed that he’ll either stay with the Suns or sign with the Knicks. The Nets will also make a strong push for him.

4. Chris Bosh – Bosh is another player who proved last season that he can be a true franchise player. He’s looking for a max contract this summer, and he’ll have no shortage of suitors. The Raptors would like to keep him, but it’s believed that Bosh will sign elsewhere – most likely with either the Knicks or Nets.

5 .Joe Johnson – Johnson is one of the best Shooting Guards in the league, and he’s coming off his best season yet. He’ll command a max contract this summer, but it’s unclear if he wants to stay with the Hawks or move elsewhere. The Bulls are rumored to be interested in him as well.

6 .Ray Allen – Allen is getting up there in age (he’ll be 36 next season), but he can still shoot with the best of them. It’s believed that he wants to stay with the Celtics, but other teams will undoubtedly make pitches for him as well (the Knicks are rumored to be interested).

7 .Paul Pierce – Like Allen, Pierce is getting up there in age but he can still provide value for a contending team (he averaged 18 points per game last season). It seems likely that he’ll finish his career with the Celtics, but other teams may try to lure him away (the Bulls are rumored to have interest).
8 . Manu Ginobili – Ginobili is getting up there in age too (he’ll be 34 next season), but like Allen and Pierce he can still provide value for a contending team – especially off the bench (he averaged 19 points per game last season). It’s unclear if Ginobili wants to stay with the Spurs or move elsewhere – perhaps to join forces with another superstar like Lebron James or Dwyane Wade? – but whatever happens Ginobili will have plenty of suitors this summer..
9 . Tyson Chandler – Chandler had something of a resurgence last season after being traded to Dallas – averaging 10 points per game and 10 rebounds per game while anchoring Dallas’ defense en route to an NBA Championship victory over Miami.. Chandler should have plenty of suitors this summer – including Dallas – but it’s unclear if any team is willing to give him anything close to what Dallas can offer considering their impending salary cap situation..

The Top Ten Free Agents in the NBA

2010 marks an interesting point in NBA free agency For the first time in years, there are actually a number of very good players available, and almost all of them will be able to command a large contract. Here are the top ten free agents in the NBA this offseason:

1. Lebron James – The best player in the league, LeBron will obviously be able to command a max contract from whichever team he signs with. The only question is whether he’ll stay with the Cavaliers or try to create his own “super team” elsewhere.

2. Dwyane Wade – Like LeBron, Wade is one of the best players in the league and will be able to sign a max contract. He has said that he’d like to stay with the Heat, but they may not have enough cap space to sign both him and LeBron.

3. Chris Bosh – Bosh is a very good player but he probably won’t be able to command a max contract like LeBron and Wade. He’s reportedly interested in joining forces with one of them, so we’ll see where he ends up.

4. Amar’e Stoudemire – Stoudemire had a great year for the Suns, and he’ll be looking for a big payday this offseason. He’s reportedly interested in joining forces with Lebron James so that could have an impact on where he ends up.

5. Joe Johnson – Johnson is one of the best shooters in the league, and he’ll be looking for a big contract this offseason. The Hawks may not be able to afford to keep him, so he could end up elsewhere.

6. Paul Pierce – Pierce has spent his entire career with the Celtics, but they may not be able to afford to keep him due to their salary situation. If he does leave Boston, he won’t lack for suitors around the league.

7. Ray Allen – Like Pierce, Allen is a key member of the Celtics who may have to leave due to their salary situation. He’s one of the best shooters in NBA history so there will definitely be interest if he hits the open market.

8. Steve Nash – Nash is getting up there in age (he’ll be 37 next season), but he’s still one of the best point guards in the league. He may decide to stay with the Suns as they rebuild, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he went elsewhere for a chance at winning another championship before his career is over.

9. Tyson Chandler – Chandler was a key part of the Mavericks’ run to the NBA Finals this year, and he should have no shortage of suitors if he hits free agency as expected. Dallas will probably try to re-sign him, but they may not be ableto offer as much money as other teams if they also want to keep fellow free agent Dirk Nowitzki happy (see below).
