Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony, the star of the 2003 Syracuse Basketball team is still going strong in the NBA. He is currently playing for the Houston Rockets and he is one of the Highest-Paid Players in the league. He has also been very active in philanthropy, starting a foundation to help underprivileged kids in New York City

Hakim Warrick

Hakim Warrick is a retired professional basketball player who played in the NBA for 11 seasons. Warrick was drafted 19th overall in the 2005 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies and went on to play for the Phoenix Suns Chicago Bulls Charlotte Hornets and Big3’s Killer 3s. Warrick’s best season came in 2006-2007 when he averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds per game for the Suns.

Since retiring from basketball, Warrick has been working as a color commentator for ESPN’s college basketball coverage.

Gerry McNamara is one of the most decorated players in Syracuse Basketball history. He was a part of the 2003 National Championship team, and he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. After his time at Syracuse, he played professionally in Europe and the NBA D-League He is now an Assistant Coach at his alma mater.

Billy Edelin

Billy Edelin was a freshman point guard on the 2003 Syracuse men’s basketball National Championship team. Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Edelin was one of the top recruits in the country when he chose to play for Jim Boeheim and the Orange.

During his freshman season, Edelin averaged 9.5 points and 3 assists per game coming off the bench behind All-American Gerry McNamara. In the NCAA tournament Edelin saw his minutes increase as he averaged 11 points per game including a career-high 20 points against Oklahoma in the Elite Eight.

In the National Championship game against Kansas, Edelin played 36 minutes and scored 10 points as Syracuse won their first ever National Championship After the season, he was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team

Edelin’s sophomore season was cut short due to intestinal surgery that caused him to miss 15 games. He returned for Syracuse’s NCAA Tournament run, but only played a total of 29 minutes in 3 games as Syracuse lost in the Elite Eight to Texas.

Edelin transferred to memorably bad University of Detroit Mercy Basketball Program following his sophomore year at Syracuse. According to an interview with SB Nation in 2013, “It was one of those situations where I had some personal things going on at home…I made some decisions that were not well thought out.” He only played one season for Detroit before transferring back closer to home to play at George Washington University

At George Washington Edelin put up good numbers but could not lead them to any success as they never made the NCAA tournament during his two seasons there. He went undrafted in 2007 and played professionally overseas for several years before returning to George Washington to complete his degree in 2013.

Josh Pace

Josh Pace played small forward for the 2003 Syracuse National Championship team. He was born and raised in Long Island New York. After his freshman year at Syracuse, he was drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns He played three seasons for the Suns before being traded to the Charlotte Bobcats He spent two seasons with the Bobcats before being waived. He then played one season in China. In 2012, he joined the Coaching Staff of his alma mater, Syracuse University

Jeremy McNeil

Jeremy McNeil played for the Syracuse Men’s basketball team from 2001 to 2005. He was part of the 2003 National Championship team. After college, he played professionally in Europe for a few years. He is now back in Syracuse and working as a real estate agent.

Jim Boeheim is currently the Head Coach of the Syracuse men’s Basketball team He has been the head coach since 1976 and has led the team to five Final Fours, winning the National Championship in 2003. The Syracuse 2003 basketball team was one of the most successful teams in school history, finishing the season with a 30-5 record. The team was led by players like Carmelo Anthony Gerry McNamara, and Hakim Warrick. All three players went on to have successful NBA careers. Anthony won an NBA Championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2009 and is currently a member of the Portland Trail Blazers McNamara played for several teams overseas before retiring from Professional Basketball in 2012.
