The storylines to watch

As we get ready for the start of the season, let’s take a look at some of the most intriguing storylines to keep an eye on.

Can anyone dethrone Vista?
The Panthers have been the class of District 25-6A for the past few years, winning four straight district titles. But with several Key Players graduated and head coach Craignoel Zepeda moving to San Antonio can Vista maintain its hold on first place? The early favorite to take over at the top is Westlake, which returns a slew of talent from last year’s team that went 28-8 and made it to the regional semifinals. The Chaparrals will be tough to beat, but don’t count out Bowie or Cedar Ridge – both of which should be Improved this season.

Who is the best player in 25-6A?
There is no shortage of talented players in District 25-6A, but the two that stand out above the rest are Westlake senior guard Baylor Bray and Austin High senior forward KJ Adams. Bray is a do-it-all player who averaged 16 points, five rebounds and three assists per game last season. Adams is a versatile forward who can score inside and out; he averaged 18 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior. Both players are four-year starters and will be playing at the Division I level next year (Bray has verbally committed to UT-Arlington; Adams is still undecided). Keep an eye on these two stars as they battle for district supremacy.
