The following season, Lewis was traded to the Kansas City Royals as part of a package that included outfielder Melky Cabrera. Lewis played in 28 games for the Royals in 2014, hitting .250 with one home run and eight RBIs. He then played in 27 games for the Royals’ Triple-A team before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays at the end of the season.
