2019-2020 BU Basketball Schedule

The 2019-2020 Boston University men’s Basketball Schedule is highlighted by 20 home games including eight games against Patriot League foes, announced today by head coach Joe Jones. The Terriers will open the regular season atCase Gym on Tuesday, November 5th when they host in-state rival UMass Lowell

“We are excited about the upcoming season and the opportunity to compete again in one of the best collegiate basketball conferences in the country,” said Jones. “Last year was a great learning experience for our young team and I am looking forward to seeing how much we have improved.”

Patriot League action will begin on Saturday, December 14th when Boston University hosts Lehigh. Other home conference opponents include Colgate (January 4th), Loyola Maryland (January 18th), Holy Cross (January 25th), American (February 1st), Navy (February 8th) and Bucknell (February 22nd). The Terriers will also host non-conference home games against Dartmouth (November 16th), Siena (November 20th), UMBC (December 3rd), Stony Brook (December 6th) and Maine (December 10th).

Junior guard Walter Whyte leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game He’s also averaging 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game Senior forward Max mahoney is second in scoring, averaging 14.4 points per game and he’s also pulling down a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game Sophomore guard Javante McCoy is third in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game and he’s also dishing out a team-high 4.5 assists per game

On the defensive end, junior guard Cheddi Mosely leads the way, averaging 2.1 steals per game. Senior forward Max mahoney is second in blocks, averaging 1.5 blocks per game.

Guards
Sophomore Javante McCoy is the leading returning scorer after averaging 5.4 points per game last year. He’ll be joined in the backcourt by junior Walter Whyte and freshmen Alex Vilarino and Jamie Shaughnessy.

Forwards
Senior Max Mahoney is BU’s top returning rebounder after averaging 6.5 boards per game last season. He’ll be joined up front by junior Tyler Scanlon, sophomore Andrew Petcash and freshmen Frederick Scott and Cooper Kaifes.

Centers
Sophomore Blaise Mbargorba and freshmancms-text Parrish Gates will compete for time at center behind Mahoney.

The Terriers finished the year with a record of 21-12 (13-5 in conference play) and advanced to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament head coach Joe Jones returns for his ninth season at the helm, and he will have a experienced squad at his disposal.

Leading the way for Boston University will be senior guard Javante McCoy. McCoy was named to the All-Conference Second Team last season after averaging 16.0 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game He will be joined in the backcourt by junior Walter Whyte, who was one of the top freshman in the country a year ago. Whyte averaged 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from three-point range

Up front, Boston University will be led by senior center Max Mahoney. Mahoney was an All-Conference honorable mention last season after averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting over 52 percent from the field. He will be joined in the frontcourt by junior forward Tyler Scanlon and freshman center Colin Lester.

2019-2020 BU Basketball Camps

Get to know the 2019-2020 BU Basketball Roster with this breakdown of each player. Read on to find out more about the team’s two new additions, as well as what to expect from the returning squad.

The Boston University men’s Basketball Team will welcome two new faces to the program when camp opens in October, as freshman Jay Wolfe and transfer Wali Parks join the team.

Wolfe, a 6’7″ forward from Milwaukee, WI, is a versatile player who can contribute in a variety of ways. A good shooter with a high motor, Wolfe should be able to provide instant offense off the bench for the Terriers.

Parks, a 6’4″ guard from Detroit, MI, comes to BU after spending two seasons at MCCAC foes Highland Community College A strong defender with good scoring ability, Parks should see significant minutes in the backcourt rotation.

In addition to the two newcomers, BU will also have a handful of returnees looking to make an impact this season. Junior guard Cedric Hankerson (14.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg) is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder from a year ago and will once again be counted on to anchor the offense. Senior guard EricFanning (9.5 ppg) also returns after starting all 32 games last season and provides leadership and experience to a young squad. Rounding out the rotation are junior forward Max Mahoney (7.8 ppg), sophomore guard Kyle Foreman (2.5 ppg) and freshman guard Javante McCoy (1.4 ppg).
