The NCCU Basketball Schedule How to Get the Most Out of It
As a NCAA Division I Basketball team the NCCU Eagles Men’s basketball schedule is announced in late September or early October. Because our school is a historically black college or university (HBCU), many of our games are televised on ESPN networks or Aspire TV. Our conference, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), guarantees that each team will play every other conference team at least once during the regular season
During the regular season most games are played on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with a few games on Sundays. Games start as early as 6pm and go as late as 10pm. When looking at the schedule, be sure to check what time the game starts so you don’t miss it! The conference tournament is held at the end of February / beginning of March, and the NCAA tournament follows in early-March through early April.
Keep in mind that our Basketball Schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. For example, last year’s game against Hampton University was postponed due to a snowstorm. The new date for that game was not announced until late January, just two weeks before the rescheduled game.
To stay up-to-date on changes to the schedule, be sure to check the NCCU website or follow us on social media (@NCCUEagleMBB).

Now that you have the NCCU Basketball Schedule it’s time to learn how to use it! If you are new to the world of college basketball here is a quick primer on the four types of games that make up the schedule.
Exhibition games are played before the regular season begins. These “practice” games give coaches a chance to see how their team is shaping up against other competition and make adjustments before the real thing starts. Exhibition games do not count towards a team’s Regular Season record.
Regular season games are what most people think of when they think about college basketball These are the games that count towards each team’s record and help determine seedings for conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament
Conference tournament games are single-elimination contests between teams in the same conference. The winner of the conference tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament
The NCAA tournament is a single-elimination tournament featuring 68 teams from across the country. The tournament starts with “March Madness ” four days of non-stop action featuring 32 first-round games. The field is then whittled down to 64 teams for the second round, then 32 for the Sweet Sixteen then 16 for the Elite Eight, and finally, four for the Final Four. The National Championship game is played two days after the Final Four.
