The Nicholls State Basketball team has a long and proud tradition. The team has been to the NCAA tournament four times, most recently in 2006. They have also won the Southland conference tournament three times, in 2002, 2005, and 2006. The team plays its home games in Stopher Gymnasium, which is located on the campus of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

The Nicholls State Basketball Schedule is typically released in late September or early October. The team usually plays about 30 games in the regular season with the majority of those being conference games. The Conference Schedule is usually released first, and then the non-conference schedule is released after that. The conference schedule can be found on the Nicholls State basketball website. NSU’s basketball team will have 17 home games this season, starting with an exhibition game against Our Lady of the Lake on Nov. 1.

Away games

The Nicholls State University men’s basketball team will be playing their next few games away, so here’s what you need to know if you’re planning on attending any of the games.

The first game is against Incarnate Word on January 5th at 7:00 p.m. The Colonels will be back home on January 8th to take on Mcneese State at 7:00 p.m.

On January 12th, they will be playing against Sam Houston State at 6:00 p.m., followed by a game against Lamar on January 15th at 4:00 p.m.

The Nicholls State Colonels men’s Basketball team participates in the NCAA Division I and represents Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. They are members of the Southland Conference The Colonels play their home games at Stopher Gymnasium on the university campus.

Since joining Division I in1986, the Colonels have appeared in two NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournaments Their first appearance came as an at-large bid in the 1997 tournament. As a #15 seed, they lost to #2 seed Arizona in the first round. In 2019, the Colonels received an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the Southland Conference Tournament Championship game As a #14 seed, they again lost to Arizona in the first round.
