Ron Baker: NBA Journeyman – Early Life and Career
Ron Baker was born in Long Beach California, on March 30, 1993. He was raised in a single-parent household by his mother, Stacie, who worked two jobs to support her family. Growing up, Baker played football and basketball and was a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers He attended Jordan High School where he was a two-sport star in football and basketball.
Baker played college basketball at Wichita State University from 2011 to 2016. As a freshman, he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. He helped lead the Shockers to the NCAA tournament four times in his five years at Wichita State including an appearance in the Final Four as a senior in 2016.
Baker went undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft but signed with the New York Knicks after impressing during Summer League play. He spent most of his rookie season with the Knicks’ Development League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. In 2017-18, Baker saw more action with the Knicks, appearing in 51 games and averaging 4.1 points and 1.9 assists per game
Baker’s NBA Career came to an abrupt end when he was waived by the Knicks midway through the 18-19 season He landed on his feet quickly though, signing with FC Barcelona Lassa of Spain’s top Professional Basketball league just days later. After one season in Barcelona, Baker moved to Turkey, signing with Büyükçekmece Basketbol of the Turkish basketball Super League for 2019-20.

He then joined the Bull’s G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. He signed a two-way contract with the Bulls in 2019.

He attended Scott Community high school in Scott City, Kansas, where he played basketball and football. In basketball, he was a four-year starter and helped lead his team to a state championship as a junior. As a senior, he averaged 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game and was named to the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-State team.
Baker played college basketball for Wichita State University from 2012 to 2016. As a freshman, he started 31 of 35 games and averaged 6 points per game He helped lead the Shockers to the NCAA Tournament as a sophomore, junior and senior. As a junior, he averaged 10 points per game and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive team As a senior, he averaged 12 points per game and was again named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive team.
Baker went undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft but later signed with the New York Knicks on July 7, 2016 after impressing in summer league play. On December 22nd 2017 Ron scored his first professional points on 2 Free throws against Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers On July 6th 2018 Ron was traded by New York along with Landry Nnoko to Phoenix for Ryan Anderson

Baker is 6’3” and weighs 200 pounds. He attended high school in Flint, Michigan and then went on to play college basketball at Flint Hills Community College He was not drafted by an NBA team but he was signed as a free agent by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1992.
Baker did not see much playing time with the Cavaliers and was waived after just two games. He then played for the Flint Fuze of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for a short time before being signed by the Chicago Bulls in 1993.
