Head Coach Clint Conque took over the Schreiner University men’s Basketball Program in 2011, the team has seen a remarkable turnaround. In just his first season at the helm, Conque led the Mountaineers to their first ever conference championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. The team has continued to improve in each of the past three seasons, culminating in a school-record 27 wins and a trip to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III tournament in 2015.

With a strong core of returning players and some talented newcomers, the Mountaineers are poised for another successful season in 2016-17. Led by senior guard Austin Downing, who was named an All-American by several publications last season, Schreiner will look to make another deep run in the NCAA tournament and bring home a National Championship

The Schreiner University men’s Basketball team is a team on the rise in NCAA Division III The Mountaineers have improved their record in each of the last four seasons and are coming off a season in which they won 20 games and qualified for the conference tournament

The team is led by Head coach Aric Russell, who is entering his fifth season at the helm. Coach Russell has built a solid foundation for the program, recruiting quality student-athletes who are committed to competing at a high level.

The Mountaineers have a strong core of returning players, including All-Conference performer Jordan Foster. Foster averaged 16 points and eight rebounds per game last season and will be looked to as the leader of this year’s team.

In addition to Foster, the Mountaineers return four other starters from last season’s team. The group includes senior guard Austin fussell, who averaged 11 points per game junior guard Deven Williams, who averaged nine points per game senior forward Brandon Boggs, who averaged eight points per game and junior center Wyatt Tallent, who averaged seven points per game

This group will be complemented by a talented group of newcomers, including junior college transfer Kaleb Romero and freshmen guards Joseph Timek and Caleb Johnson.

In the 2017-2018 season the Schreiner University men’s basketball team had a record of 15-13. The team improved their winning percentage from the previous season and also set a new program record for three pointers made in a season. They accomplished all of this while competing in one of the toughest conferences in all of NCAA Division III.

The Mountaineers are led by head coach Charlie Brown who is entering his fourth season at the helm. Brown has coached the team to a combined record of 33-41 over his first three seasons. While this may not seem like much, it is important to remember that Schreiner University is a relatively new school that did not even have a men’s basketball team until 2012. In just six short years, Coach Brown has turned the team into a respected program that is capable of competing with any team in their conference.

The 2017-2018 season was a special one for Senior guard Jordan Foster. Foster was named 1st Team All-Conference and was also named Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He is just the second player in Schreiner history to receive these honors and he is widely considered to be the best player in program history.

Foster will graduate this May, but the future is bright for Schreiner University Basketball The team will return four starters from last year’s squad and they will add some talented freshman to the mix. Coach Brown has done an excellent job recruiting over the past few years and there is no reason to think that the Mountaineers will not continue to improve in the coming years.
