WKU Baseball’s Coaching Staff to Watch This Season

Spring is finally in the air, and that can only mean one thing: baseball season is upon us once again. The WKU Hilltoppers are back and looking to build on their successful 2019 campaign. Head Coach John Pawlowski enters his seventh season at the helm of the program, and he has assembled a talented coaching staff that includes assistant coaches Tyler Duncan and Clayton Ronning, pitching coach Steve Fatherree, and hitting coach Ryan rays. Let’s take a closer look at each of these coaches and what they bring to the table.

Coach Pawlowski is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and he played his college baseball at Miami University He began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater before moving on to Clemson University where he served as the associate head coach for nine seasons. In 2013, Coach Pawlowski was named Head Coach at Auburn University where he spent four seasons. He then came to WKU in 2016. Coach Pawlowski has led the Hilltoppers to three consecutive Conference USA Tournament appearances, and he was named the Conference USA Coach of the Year in 2018.

Assistant coach Tyler Duncan is in his second season with the Hilltoppers after spending two seasons as an assistant at Western Carolina University A native of Asheville, North Carolina Coach Duncan played his college baseball at Appalachian State University He was a four-year starter for the Mountaineers and was named team captain as a senior.

Clayton Ronning is in his first season as an Assistant Coach at WKU after spending two seasons as an assistant at Lincoln Memorial University A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Coach Ronning played his college baseball at Tusculum College, where he was a two-time all-conference selection. He then went on to play professionally for four years before beginning his coaching career.

Pitching coach Steve Fatherree is in his fourth season with the Hilltoppers and sixth season overall as a college pitching coach. A native of Shelbyville, Kentucky, Coach Fatherree played his college baseball at Morehead State University He then spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky before moving on to Louisville, where he spent four seasons as pitching coach for the Cardinals. In 2013, he returned to Morehead State to serve as pitching coach/recruiting coordinator for three seasons before coming to WKU in 2016.

WKU Baseball’s Ballpark is located in Bowling Green Kentucky, on the campus of Western Kentucky University The ballpark opened in 2009 and has a capacity of 3,000 spectators. The park has a grass field and is illuminated by natural lighting.

The seating at WKU Baseball’s Ballpark is divided into three sections: general admission seating, reserved seating, and suites. General admission seating is located behind home plate and down the foul lines. Reserved seating is located in the bleachers on either side of the field. There are also 20 suites located on the second level of the ballpark that can accommodate up to 25 people each.
