Kyrie Irving

The 2013 NBA Draft class is widely considered to be one of the best in recent memory. With players like Giannis Antetokounmpo Rudy Gobert and Victor Oladipo, there are a lot of young stars who have already made an impact in the league. But one player who has stood out above the rest is Kyrie Irving

Irving was the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers He has been an All-Star in each of his first three seasons and was named the MVP of the 2014 All-Star game Irving is also a two-time winner of the NBA Skills Challenge and was named the Rookie of the Year in 2012.

Kyrie Irving is one of the best players in the 2013 NBA draft class and has already had a great deal of success in his young career.

Anthony Davis

The 2013 NBA draft was held on June 27, 2013, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including International Players The draft order is determined based on the previous season’s standings, with a lottery involving the 14 teams with the worst records. The lottery took place on May 21, 2013. This draft has been considered one of the deepest and most talented NBA drafts in recent memory, with a record number of all-stars and MVP-level players already having been produced by this class.

The first two picks were back-to-back selections from Kentucky Wildcats teammates Anthony Davis (1st overall) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (2nd overall). Davis became an All-Star for the first time in his rookie season while Kidd-Gilchrist was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. They were followed by Bradley Beal (3rd), Dion Waiters (4th), Thomas Robinson (5th), to give the draft class five players who would go on to be named to an All-Star team within their first four seasons. Cody Zeller (9th), Alex Len (5th), Nerlens Noel (6th), Steven Adams (12th) were also ranked among the top 15 picks but did not make an All-Star team until later in their careers. This draft class along with 2012’s have given rise to the term “superteam” due to how stacked each Draft Class has been with talent compared to drafts of other years such as 2008 where has been cited as one of weakest drafts in recent memory

Bradley Beal

The 2013 NBA Draft was held on June 27, 2013, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. The lottery took place on May 21, 2013. This was the first draft for New Orleans under their new Pelicans name after previously being known as the New Orleans Hornets. This draft also set a record with three Canadian top 10 picks.[1][2]

Players who are not automatically eligible had to declare their eligibility for the draft by notifying the NBA offices in writing no later than 60 days before the draft.[3][4] For 2013, this date fell on April 28. Under NCAA rules at that time, players only had until April 16 to withdraw from the draft and maintain their college eligibility.[5] A player who has hired an agent forfeits his remaining college eligibility regardless of whether he is drafted.[6]

As of August 29, Bradley Beal was ranked as the #3 player by ESPN’s Recruiting Services[7], making him a 5-star recruit according to ESPN’s levels.

Thomas Robinson

The Draft Lottery took place on May 21, 2013. This was the first draft for New Orleans under their new Pelicans name after previously being known as the New Orleans Hornets. This draft also marked the last time the Charlotte Bobcats made an NBA Draft appearance before reverting to their old name of the Charlotte Hornets starting with the 2014 NBA draft

One of the most talked about prospects heading into this years draft was Thomas Robinson out of Kansas. Some even went as far to say that he could be a future All-Star in this league. Robinson was selected with the 5th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings

Damian Lillard

The 2013 NBA draft was held on June 27, 2013, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It was the first draft to take place in the brand new Barclays Center, and the second time that the National Basketball Association (NBA) held its annual draft in the state of New York; the first time being back in 1960. This Draft Class was notable because it marked the first time since 1974 that three players were selected as co-winners of the Smith College Player of the Year Award [1] This is one selection fewer than what has been typical over recent drafts.[2]

In this draft, Damin Lillard from Weber State University was selected as a point guard by Portland Trail Blazers with 6th overall pick.

Dion Waiters

Dion Waiters (born December 10, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played College Basketball for Syracuse University As a rookie in 201213, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Waiters was born and raised in South Philadelphia, one of six children of Michael and Dion Waiters Sr. He began playing organized basketball at age eight for a local team called the 84ers. In High School Waiters played for Bob Hurley Sr.’s St. Anthony high school in Jersey City New Jersey. As a freshman, he averaged 3.6 points per game and saw little playing time coming off the bench. The following year, he increased his scoring to 11 points per game as he helped lead St. Anthony to a 283 record and the New Jersey Non-Public B state title game. As a junior in 200910, he averaged 19 points per game as St. Anthony finished with a 265 record and won both the Union County Tournament Championship and the Hudson County Tournament championship.[1][2]

In May 2010, Waiters committed to Syracuse over Kentucky, Marquette, Rutgers, and Seton Hall [3][4] He entered Syracuse as a freshman in 201011 along with fellow McDonald’s All-Americans Kris Joseph and Fab Melo.[5] Joseph was declared ineligible for the season on December 10 due to academic issues,[6] while Melo did not become eligible until mid-January after studying at Brewster Academy for a semester.[7][8] As a result, Waiters saw significant playing time early in his college career.

In February 2011 against Connecticut, Waiters scored a career-high 21 points.[9] He scored in double figures 18 times as a freshman,[10] including four games with at least 20 points,[11][12][13][14] and finished the season averaging 10 points per game [15] Following the season, he was named Big East sixth man of the Year.[16]

As a sophomore in 201112,[17] Waiters averaged 12.6 Points per game while coming off the bench behind guard Brandon Triche.[18 ]He helped lead Syracuse to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament’s East Region final,[19 ]where they lost to Ohio State [20 ]At the end of the season, he was once again named Big East Sixth Man of the Year after becoming just one of three players ever to win back-to-back Sixth Man awards from any conference.[21 ][22 ]He also earned second team All-Big East honors from both coaches[23 ]and media members.[24 ]

Expressing his delight at the selections, NBA Commissioner David Stern called it “one of the most memorable draft nights in recent memory”. The draft order was determined by a combination of lottery results and record. Going into the draft, Kyrie Irving from Duke was considered to be the best prospect available,[1][2] but after uncertainty about his college career arose after an injury early in his freshman year, other prospects such as Anthony Davis from Kentucky and Thomas Robinson from Kansas became more hyped up. This was the first draft since 1963 where three players from one school were selected in the top five picks.[3]

With the first overall pick in the draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected small forward Anthony Bennett from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). This marked the first time since the 1984 NBA Draft that an African American player was selected as the number one overall pick.[5][6] Besides Bennett favorite contenders for the first overall selection were Nerlens Noel of Kentucky, Otto Porter Jr. of Georgetown and Alex Len of Maryland.[7][8][9][10] As expected[11] going into the draft no one else was selected within the next five picks after Noel was taken fifth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans The draft then went on to have many international and college stars being selected through all seven rounds with very few trades being made during this year’s eventful draft.
